[BC] ALU/switch/Actiontec with own router no longer works

ALU --> Switch --> WAN port Actiontec V1000h --> STBs

ASUS RT-N66U

The above setup worked for a year or so, and about 2-3 weeks ago I started getting slow speeds and lag on my own wifi router. To the point where speedtests would not complete.

I had to switch to this below to get normal operation again.

DSL line --> Actiontec --> STBs

Wan port
ASUS RT-N66U 176.16.0.x range and 255.255.240.0 subnet

In the Actiontec I set the DMZ host to the ASUS router. If the setting is DMZ why is the Actiontec handing out a 192.168.1.x IP address, shouldn't it be an external IP?

As long as the Actiontec is not in bridge mode you will get a local IP for all devices connected to it, DMZ or not. As to slow speeds and lag, was that wired or wireless? First thing to do is plug the machine into the router if it usually connects via wifi.
