switching to ethernet and still using parental controls.
I was wondering if was possible to switch to ethernet and still utilize the parental controls to block internet traffic. I have an opportunity to run ethernet from the ont into the house and just trying to see if its worth it. I would like to use my own router on the connection if possible. Maybe theres another solution for blocking internet during certain times of the day? I heard bridging the router is needed for the stb to get the guide. So do I need a moca and ethernet connection into the house? I imagine mkca to the actiontech and ethernet to me router and then a connection from the actiontech into my switch?

Whether your WAN connection to the Actiontec is coax or cat5 makes no difference to the parental controls.
I'm confused though. If you put the Actiontec behind your router to service the STBs, the parental controls will have no effect.
Yes, if you put the Actiontec behind your router, you still need coax connections to the ONT, the Actiontec and the STBs.
There are a number of possible configurations for running your own router. You should review this FAQ: »Verizon Online FiOS FAQ »What are the tradeoffs between the various router configurations
