fartnesscomputersoc dot comPremium join:2003-03-25 Look Outside | APC backup ES 725 / laser printer I have my laser printer plugged into the wall into a different outlet. In the other outlet is my APC backup ES 725 that I have my computer and monitor plugged into. I also have another backup (Belkin maybe) into the other outlet that runs my 2 other monitors.
Normally when I turn the laser printer on, it makes them go on battery backup for one second since the laser printer draws a lot of power. Pretty normal. However today, I turned the laser printer on and the computer shut off. I tried turning the laser printer off then turning on/off the ES 725 and it made kind of a chirping beeping. I unplugged everything and it's still doing this. Did the APC get surged? Any ideas?
Computer works fine.
Battery backup is probably 6 years old already. I know it's past its time but it still held a charge last time I checked (about a year ago when the breaker tripped due to something unrelated). I'm just confused about the chirping style beeps. |

JoelC707Premium join:2002-07-09 West Point, GA kudos:5 | That thing uses a single 12V 7Ah/9Ah battery. Unless you want a bigger UPS or something, I'd recommend just replacing the battery. That battery can be purchased nearly anywhere. I'd even venture a guess that Walmart sells that battery (though not cheaply).
Your best bet for that battery is ebay. »www.ebay.com/itm/12V-9AH-SLA-Bat···6a6ceda0. $20 shipped and I've bought two of that specific battery from them before and they hold up nicely in my APC Smart-UPS 750. Definitely get the 9Ah version instead of the 7 or 8 as you'll get slightly longer run time and it probably costs about the same. |

Other than those two differences they are the same. The 7Ah vs 9 Ah thing is probably only going to mean a few minutes difference in run time. |

The battery has been long gone. Would it take the same battery as your ebay link also? How do I find out what batteries they take? I have another unit I might as well change the battery on also. |

JoelC707Premium join:2002-07-09 West Point, GA kudos:5 | Depends, some of the older 325/350s used the same battery but the newer ones use a 12v ~5Ah battery (bout half the height as the 7/9 Ah). The easiest way is to either open it and see what it has or Google it's model number.
For example here's your APC 725: »www.apc.com/resource/include/tec···=BE725bb. On that link look in the "batteries and runtime" category there's a "replacement battery" link that in the case of the 725 says RBC17. Click that and you will get the details of the battery.
It apparently comes with the 9Ah battery stock so the 7Ah will be a downgrade (but still work just fine). It shows "volt-amp-hour" as 108. Divide that by the voltage (12) and you get 9, that's the Ah rating. You can certainly search for "RBC17" on ebay/amazon but you'll miss out on some results from sellers that don't do their listings by the RBC number. |

That fixed the 725, works great now!
My other is a Geek Squad GS700U. Would you know what battery would go in that one? Same battery as my 725? |
