That's a strange speedtest result, is that a new business plan? Loving that ping though!

His ping to Vancouver is -6ms I believe. Its so fast the packets travel backwards in time.

i can pull off 8ms to vancouver (100+km) and about 24 to calgary, thats 16ms from city to city, so unless telus has better routing then shaw im guessing its around 15-16ms for him

It's fiber, no overhead.

Delayed 4 weeks from paperwork being left on a engineers desk, from what I was told.

~3000/month for 50Mb, 4000 for 100Mb.

$4000 ?? wow you're getting taken to the cleaner..we have 100mb Telus fiber with 95% percentile and we pay maybe half that depending on usage.

Prices vary depending on location. We are far far from any other building. Plus, Telus is bending everyone over that has a fiber circuit. Actual costs for them per month on the line is probably less than ~500/month.

Exactly. I've seen quotes go through for less than $1200 and greater than $6000 per month, with the only difference being where the service is going to.

It's just them deferring the build cost and trying to recoup it later on with monthly revenue.
They know if they told some guy in the middle of nowhere that his 20mbps fiber circuit is going to have a $60,000 build cost, he's probably going to tell them to get bent.

The last location I worked out of had Shaw basically tell us that. We wanted to have TV installed for our waiting room. Was going to be a $30,000 install fee. We told them to stuff it and called Bell.

Same thing happened when the IT department determined every location needed a secondary ISP. Shaw was going to be a very large install fee (30k +) because they had no infrastructure on the block. Not even out of the way, about 6 blocks from the 32nd Ave office! Telus is the primary and fixed wireless was set up as the secondary.

Yikes. That is pricey! We have a 200mbps connection from Axia, and our monthly bill is around $3000 including 5 /24 subnets.
