| Pages won't load I live in central Arkansas, and my dls speeds have not been great for a long time, and I have to unplug/plug the modem often to get a connection (DSL sync). Yesterday afternoon, however, pages started to take a long time to load, and finally no pages that had any images on the would load at all. Sometimes I would get source code for the page, sometimes not. I was able to load a page that was basic html and no images. All my light on my motorola moden are green. I did a trace on Google.com and I did have one hop time out.
I don't have a phone at the moment, so I'm trying what I can to make a guess if the modem has finally crapped out or not. I have to buy a new modem about every 12 to 18 months. And this one has been to worst one I've ever had. Any oppions, or comments would be appreciated. |

 | How many devices/computers do you have, have you tried from more than one? Are you having this trouble wired or wireless?
You said you don't have a phone currently but make sure your modem has the inline DSL filter anyway, it may help.
Do you have a router or just modem, what modem do you have? Is it grey/black, it's probably a 2210. When you have trouble look at the modem lights and see if any go red. |

| I don't have a router hooked up. Modem goes directly to the PC. It's the little black and silver Motorola. It's about a year old. All green lights. I've a filter on the wall connection. All items in the modem control panel have a Pass status. None of the lights goes red during a attempted page load. Green activity light blinks when you click on a link, but the page never loads. Again, I did get one page to load that I had bookmarked that was of the most basic html pages with no images. It's like it gets or starts to get the basic html and css, but it chokes whne it tries to send an image of any kind of size. |

The "splitter-filter" does nothing on the DSL side; as if it wasn't there. So how could it help? -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum |

Point being, check your inside wiring well, if at all possible. If you can, try a different computer. If your computer is in good working order I would try to contact AT&T to have the line checked.
Post your line stats and we can probably determine if its a line issue. It doesn't really sound like a software/OS issue. I would think you would have more problems than that if it was software related. |

| Well, it is better tonight than it was yesterday. Pages do load although sites will multiple images take a bit to load. It wasn't as hot today either. I would like to test the line quality but even after making the setting to the Windows firewall, it still says I'm not pingable. I've tried turning off the firewall and turning off my AV. Still no joy. Any suggestions? With regard to the filter, I did take that out, since I no longer have phone service. |
