Re: [Raiding] Progression Thread 5.4 edition said by Carpie:I also just noticed there is a 476 shield you can buy for 10k timeless coins. That may be an option. It is not much of an upgrade but it's a hair better for him then the MSV LFR 476.
And once he gets that, gems/enchants/upgrades/refoges/tmogs it the sha will drop the one he wants. that 476 will be a 484. -- semper idem 1KTzRMxN1a2ATrtAAvbmEnMBoY3E2kHtyv |

said by Carpie:Yes... he could stock up coins and run LFRs until his eyes bled. That is also an option. He's already depressed about the situation; I don't want him suicidal.
Back when jobbie was playing he helped me get in (you know healer que) HoF to try getting the OH I think I burned 3 coins on that boss.
I'd suggest for now just have him do SoO lfr and burn a coin on sha, do flex and burn a coin, and then if ya'll do sha on reg burn a coin there too, let that be where he burns his 3 SoO coins for the week. -- semper idem 1KTzRMxN1a2ATrtAAvbmEnMBoY3E2kHtyv |

I hear you Carpie, but they really, really buffed the coin drop rates in the old LFRs. He has to be desperate at this point, if you get another guild tank and a few healers, you queue time would be very short for a very organized LFR. I would imagine that a few runs of the last few ToT LFRs with coining every time would get him a shield within a few weeks, assuming you don't do it multiple times a week. |

We are way OT of this thread now but I appreciate the dialogue as it is causing me to re-think how we can make this a priority and get it taken care of. The light bulb just went off for me that ToT is CRZ now and there have been a number of Oqueue groups looking for people. Probably the best answer, not only for our Prot tank, but for any of our core team that still needs upgrades from ToT is to start pugging in ToT groups during the week.
This is making me re-think our Sunday schedule now...

Good point on the drop rates. Maybe re-running Halls of Flesh Shaping LFR over and over until Primordius drops the shield is the way to go. At least he's the 2nd boss in so you could drop and re-queue from there. The rest of the LFR group would love us for that! (I wonder if we can put a tarp over our guild banners when we go.. lol)
And Dark your pew-pew is always welcome!

Is there a PVP shield he can use temporarily? |

Carpie join:2012-10-19 united state kudos:2 | There is a 496 pvp honor shield but it's not an upgrade. I believe there is also a 522 tyran shield but he'd need conquest points to purchase it (which at this point may be less frustrating that pve).
He ran SoO and Primordius/Lei Shen LFRs on Friday w/ bonus rolls. No shield. Also bought 2 mogu runes and we ran Primordius twice after our raid last night. And to get back to the original thread intent, we are now 2/14 SoO in Absolution.
Which doesn't sound like much of an accomplishment, but considering the circumstances, we all came out of there happy and a bit surprised as well. Three hours before the raid I'm thinking I'm going to have to turn two people away as we'll have too many. Six minutes after the raid start, we are short two with very little options.
So in I come on my 509 (/flex) guardian druid to tank. We move our 521 shaman healer (who was subbing for our normal 531 monk healer) to dps, and bring in... wait for it... a 489 holy pally to be third healer (Look, I DID say very little options).
I was hoping/betting on that by the second boss, either the tank or the healer would show. We one-shot the first boss so no trouble there. Probably wiped 4-5 times on the 2nd boss and it was pretty clear our under-geared crew wasn't going to be enough. We started throwing out option on the /officer channel (call it, ToT, etc) when the monk healer logged in. Hooray!
Still less than ideal group-wise, we downed the second boss after 2-3 wipes and moved on to Norushen. We were able to take a couple solid pulls before we had to call it (an hour early) for the night. I think we are going to be stretched pretty tight with our regular crew dps-wise for Norushen as it is, let alone with a OS Shaman sub who was pulling ~60k.
So all in all, was not a *great* night, but it went well for us considering the circumstances and we added one more notch to our guild belt. And our prot warrior tank got two new lootz out of the deal (woo-hoo!), as did our already OP priest. -- Absolution -- MSV: 6/6 0/6H -- HoF: 4/6 -- ToES: 4/4 -- ToT: 12/12 -- SoO: 4/14F 2/14 Pride and Ego -- MSV: 6/6 1/6H -- HoF: 6/6 -- ToES: 4/4 -- ToT: 11/12 -- SoO: 3/14F */14 |

Tortos shield is a healing shield. Int/Spr. And while warriors are highly spirited, they lack the intelligence to know how to use such a shield properly. Previous attempts were often met with ridicule from villagers as the warrior strode through town with the shield on his head, thinking it was a helm attachment. -- Absolution -- MSV: 6/6 0/6H -- HoF: 4/6 -- ToES: 4/4 -- ToT: 12/12 -- SoO: 4/14F 2/14 Pride and Ego -- MSV: 6/6 1/6H -- HoF: 6/6 -- ToES: 4/4 -- ToT: 11/12 -- SoO: 3/14F */14 |

I think I got confused somewhere as the one I linked isn't from Tortos at all.
Yes the int/spirit is rubbish for a warrior. |

Grats JB!
Sounds like you did the best with what you had Carpie. Nothing wrong with getting 2 bosses in a situation like that. Norushen is a definite bump up in dificulty compared to the first two, so you were probably right in calling it.
Going back in for a few hours tonight to try to finish Garrosh. I don't think we'll get it, but getting more pulls and practice on the mechanics will help, and I figure we'll get it during the next lockout (I hope). |

We actually did better than I thought. We pulled for about 2 hours, and got him to about 16% in phase 2 a few times. I think with a fresh run with new gear this week, we'll get him. |

 JBStay Gold join:2009-05-14 kudos:1 | Nice, hopefully we'll get there in ~2 weeks. |
|
 | You guys will get there. I'll be intereseted to see if the Klaxxi order is the same for the 3rd week in a row (meaning pretty much always constant) or is switches up. Stagnant and the fight isn't bad once you figure out your kill order. If it switches, it'll be a relearn of sorts every week.
Once you guys get past the Thok gearcheck, you'll be there. |

 | Congrats!
We wiped for over 3 hours on Garrosh... that 2nd transition in phase 2 is killing us. We go into the heart with him between 15 and 20%. We get the empowered corruption that spawn adds, and then get pulled into the heart about 3 seconds later. It's not enough time to kill adds, so when we come back out the adds are there. We have to split up to kill them separately, then get a desacrate and an empowered mind controll right behind it. We either blow adds up on each other and empower them, or don't stack up fast enough and we don't burn down/interrupt the empowered MC fast enough. I bet we wiped 30 times at that point last night. We did get him to phase 3 about 5 or 6 times, but with one or two dead.
On the other hand, we almost finished the transition phase with him below 50 energy a few times (twice he was at 50 energy when we engaged him... 1 seconds too slow). If we could do that last phase with him below 50 energy, the mind control wouldn't be empowered and we'd probably have a much better chance at it.
This is a good fight, but the timing of the phase changes suck. |

Back in WotLK I used to live there, as Dalaran was a lag fest but since Cata I've had to resort to Orgrimmar due to portals/vendors being there and no quick way to get between the two. In Mists the shrine isn't laggy at all, so it's only my bank alt parked there. |

 | In WoLK I lived in Ironforge. It was nice to be able to be in other cities to hang out, AH was less crowded, and I liked the atmosphere better. Now without portals you go to Ironforge and you're lucky if there are 3 people there. |
