Yep, we got it all figured out now. ~7% wipe, need to optimize the raid dps a bit more. ps: that 7 minute enrage sucks in 25s.

Nurushen and Sha of Pride down. Sha is pretty easy if you can stack/spread. So 4/14N in our first week, not bad, can't complain.

Oh noes you'd killed Immer you B.....
Oh noes you killed Pride...
Don't kill Ego

(just making a south park joke and a joke about the boss names)

JB what class is the OT tank and what did you end up changing to get them through it?

Sadly, a paladin. He was just horrible at placing / picking up the ads. Some of the problem was people were failing at soaking as well, once we cleared those up it was smooth sailing.

Spoils of Pandaria down.... that one took a lot of tries and practice to work out, so we're 10/14.

We played with Thok for an hour or so, that fight is a bitch, he gets energy so fast. best one was 20%, but we have some piss poor kiters on the team that get people killed.

I'm the exact opposite. I'll end up raiding 12-14hrs this week (as usual) across Th-Su (Th/Sun Absolution, Fri/Sat PnE) and I want MOAR. I've been chomping at the bit all damn week to get started. It's killing me seeing 10man guilds already all the way through the regs and I haven't even stepped foot in them yet.

Well I tried some flex. 3 PUG's via oqueue.

1. Poor group, We downed Immer after a wipe then struggled with the Protectors, me not helping by realizing my grid icon for magic debuffs didn't work in raids. I felt bad but th eother 3 healers were doing it and I later found out it wouldn't have mattered anyway. We didn't down them.
2. Joined fresh group, we got in and the leader and shouter realized he had done the first two already, said sorry and left. Group fell apart.
3. Fresh group, we 1 shot Immer and got close on the Protectors (one attempt) as the group actually did what they were meant to, which was the issue the first try. We had less debuffers but still got further. After one attempt group disbanded.

So I'm still 1/4 only. Really looking forward to getting my own team together to do it as opposed to joining PUG's which fall apart at the first wipe.

I am thinking of switching my two mains to Alliance. Horde on Proudmoore is just too underpopulated and can't get a decent group together. I was on an alt and the trade chat was full of LFM for Flex and/or Normals. Horde /2 is dead.

Check out the Oqueue addon. It lets you see groups from other servers via BattleNet and crossrealm. Should tide you over until your realm is connected to another.

We went 13/14 first week with one full raid night spent on Garrosh. That fight is hard. It is def tuned for 550 ilvl plus. Tanks were just getting wrecked. Easily the hardest hitting boss this entire expac (which it should be). We went 8/14 last night, not bad for one night. So Garrosh should die this week. If you guys have any questions about certain bosses let me know, I pretty much know every encounter inside and out at this point (ran two different raids last week that both went 13/14).

Grats JB! DKS absolutely blows, and it blows double for melee. Nothing like the elemental wall spawning on your head and oneshotting you, or you get behind the wall and the slimes and can't dps the bosses for 20 seconds or so while you try to run around it all.

We got Paragon of the Klaxxi last night, then wiped constantly on Garrosh for about 3 hours. So we're 13/14 and not sure if we will get back in this week.

The next few bosses aren't bad, Nazgrim isn't hard if you keep the adds under control. The key is to not push him below 10% right after adds spawn, because he spawns an additional set at 10%. We blow hero at about 15% and push him if adds are up once the shaman is down. Then when the adds spawn, just keep the shaman silenced/stunned and blow him up.

Your next really tough ones will be Spoils and Thok. Spoils isn't bad once you figure out the mechanics and which boxes to open when. 5-10 wipes figuring it out and you will roll it. Thok is a gear check for both DPS and heals

We had the same thought Vince. We're around a 540-545 ilvl and we were getting slammed in phase 1. We never got to the transition without someone down, of which a lot of that was our less..... aware... dps focusing so hard on burning adds that they stood in stuff or got run over by the ENORMOUS hitbox of the iron star.

Yeah, one screwup on Malk is a wipe, otherwise he's easy sauce.

Spoils is kinda fun, it's nice to have a different type of fight.

You will learn to hate looking at that dinosaur..... :\

You guys make me wish that we, in Absolution, raided earlier in the week. It kills me to read your progress all week while I wait for Sunday to roll around for us. Congrats to you all though on your progress.

Last Sunday we got Immer down fairly easy on Regs and were making good progress on the Protectors. I really believe that we would have had them also by the end of the night, but at the halfway mark of our allotted time we had to ask ourselves whether we wanted to spend the next two hours on getting that kill, or whether we should go back into ToT and pick up at Megs (where I had a lock) and down multiple bosses for multiple chances at loot upgrades. Since we had just cleared ToT for the first time right before SoO dropped, there are still a handful of items in the last few bosses of ToT that our raid members can benefit from. We ended up going to ToT so for now we are 1/14 SoO regs.

The other factor is that the first week we did not pass Norushen in Flex. Our prot warrior tank could not, after multiple tries, get past his test. He was super frustrated by the end and felt like he was letting the group down so I didn't put our chances high for a Norushen kill on Regs. Even this week, after he made some talent tweaks and researched it, his first (and only) two attempts at the test in flex Norushen ended with him on the floor. We ended up just keeping him out and sending the Disc Priest in his place and had the priest absorb the purple poo-poos.

We downed Norushen (and Pride thereafter) but our warrior tank is still feeling pretty crappy. He didn't get a shield drop (again) on Primordius (even with a bonus roll) last week. We didn't get to Lei Shen last week so we'll probably finish that on Sunday also in hopes that he can finally replace his 463 shield (which is just mind blowing).

I don't think it is (though I could be wrong, haven't checked in awhile). Generally you get the better bang for the upgrade buck for upgrading higher ilvl pieces. And then there is just the principle.... how many of us won't bother to gem/enchant gear below 489? 496? Etc.

If I remember correctly, ilvl 463 gear gets upgraded with justice points, not valor. He'd be crazy not to spend 500 JP since he's forced to run with it.

You are right. And now you made me look. It's upgraded to 471 (and probably has been for awhile). But still... IT'S A BLUE!!

Good thing he is a tank. Because can you imagine how broad a person's shoulders must be... how thick their skin must be... to have to be the only kid carrying around a blue item on the playground?

If this keeps up he'll move to the UK and get govt pay for depression.

I know there are very few shields, but I'd be running every LFR for every tier section that dropped one. With the way you can get the greater tokens for ToES, MV, and Heart of fear from the Isle of the Thunder King (I think I am sitting with 20 still) along with the way they buffed the chances in the old raids for coin wins, he should have 2 chances to win a shield off of every boss that drops one. As much as I'd hate it, if I still had a blue dagger I'd be running those and coining every shot.

Actually he has as many chances as he wants
unless they changed it since 5.2 you can burn a coin on an LFR boss more than once per lock.
so he could stock up on 40 coins (20 elder and 20 mogu) and run the LFR's with shields and burn a coin on the boss with his shields for 42 loot rolls on 2 bosses.
now thats 20 5.1 and 20 5.3 LFR runs but do able.

The shield droppers are:

1) The Spirit Kings (MSV): 476 LFR, 489 Reg, 502H
2) Primordius (ToT): 502, 522
3) Lei Shen (ToT): 502, 522

I can't say for certainty that he ran MSV every week (and somewhat doubt he did), but I do know he ran ToT with rolls every week. We talked about doing MSV heroics to try and get him one but never got a group together. In hindsight we probably should have blown through MSV normal real quick each week until he at least got that shield. Who'd have guessed he'd never get a drop out of ToT though...

There is also now Sha of Pride. He didn't get a drop on Flex this week; I'm not sure if he's done LFR. At this point though he should be using the bonus rolls in either of those on Sha.

I also just noticed there is a 476 shield you can buy for 10k timeless coins. That may be an option. It is not much of an upgrade but it's a hair better for him then the MSV LFR 476.

Yes... he could stock up coins and run LFRs until his eyes bled. That is also an option. He's already depressed about the situation; I don't want him suicidal.
