Gotta pay for all those Robellus=good, Verizon=bad, the-sky-is-falling, competion=evil ads! Funny how much of a stink the big three telcom giants made over this rumour that turned out to be false since Verizon confirmed they are not interested in Canada! |

I could be wrong but it seems that my prices are going DOWN?!?!?
I have Fibe TV Better Package on my bill priced at 74.27 I have 50/10 internet on my bill as 86.95
According to the site the new prices as at Nov 1 are 72.95 and 85.95.
EDIT: Nope apparently I am wrong. WTF? Got a note in my bill stating "your TV service will increase by $3.68" and "your Internet service will increase by $3". |

 | That's if you have those packages. I left Bell in July and I was on the Performance "up to" 7 package, $62.90 before taxes. It would have increased to $65.90 before taxes per month.
You may notice that my package is not listed. They got rid of it a long time ago. Instead of offering the new packages with cheaper prices to their existing customers, Bell instead grandfathers your package and increases the price. The 6 years I had that package it increased $20.
Does it list if those prices are for existing or new customers only?
Edit: Sorry missed the post above this one where you got notice from Bell for an increase. Those prices must be for new customers.

This is why I left, the constant price increases with no improvement to my services. I could have justified the price increases if they had done things like increase my speed a little or increase my monthly caps a little, but no if anything my speed got a little slower and monthly caps stayed the same. Oh, for an extra $30 I could get unlimited. Ya, right. And don't get me going on the ridicules high cost of a basic phone with no extras.

 | I left too. Price gouging at it's best. I left there stupid high prices they charge for internet with ridiculous bandwidth caps years ago. I switched to a reseller that offered better service and a huge cap for half the price. It's funny a reseller can offer basically bells product for half of what bell rips off there own customers for. I find it hard to believe Bell has any customers left or want to stay. Bell chased me away from there Sat. TV, then internet, then POTS phone with huge annual price increases for all services. I finally dumped the POTS home phone just recently too. $48/month for a land line with little to few features is a brutal price especially for a old technology with a infrastructure that has been in place for decades . I just shake my head in disbelief when I read about there price increase in November. Thank god I left Bell. I pray and hope I never have to deal with this outfit for anything ever again. I tell everyone I know and advise them on how they can save money every month by switching there services away from bell. There are alternatives to bell services that are cheaper and of the same or better quality. I like having a few extra bucks in my pocket every month, much better then in Bells back pocket. I am free of bell and it feels good ! |

Hahaha, "might as well stick to the company that gives you the best customer service and product" hahaha. Thanks for that laugh, I just choked on my apple.
Serious, everyone puts up their prices, it's is the service we are getting justify the price we pay. In my case with Bell it was a big fat "NO". For about 40% less of what I was paying Bell for internet and phone, I'm getting great customer service and faster/better product. And to add Customer Service is in Canada, employing Canadians.
Now you tell me this. Why is it that Bell outsources overseas to save money, but their prices are the highest when other companies use the Canadian workforce and provide cheaper/better services? Oh, wait, I know. To make more money for their investors by screwing their customers. -- "Whenever they invent something that's moron proof, someone comes by and invents a better moron."

PaoloMr. Wireless join:2004-05-29 canada | i dont know why, but i am not knocking bell what so ever but let me ask you this, would you rather go with Com (con) wave for home phone instead of bell canada? comwave is by far cheaper rates but look at how many complaints. i researched my options of actual land line PSTN companies, then there are voip, etc, the reason some of them offer cheaper prices is cus they cut their support, you have to wait 4, sometimes 5 days for them to get back to you. i have not had any issues with bell, my bell even worked when my hydro was out, but a neighbour who uses com (con) wave said comwave promised their line will work in power outages too, yikes. so you get what u pay for i guess
i dont know where bell has their agents located but i know a lot of people have off shore call centers, even rogers, yes even master card and visa do too, am i happy with this? no,. what can i do? not much right now bro, just wait and hopefully see -- Happiness is like peeing your pants... 1 edit | Oh, I'm knocking Bell, because of the customer service, product, and price (they owe me money too).
Today, I would be very stupid if I blindly went with a company without checking the reviews first. Well, that is why I checked around, found good reviews and talked to people in my area, for the company who I switched to. And, as I was saying, I have had excellent service so far; faster speeds, higher caps and cheaper price both internet & phone. Will it stay that way? Maybe, maybe not. Again, does the service/product justify the cost? It was "no" with Bell and "yes" with my current service provider.
Just look in the Bell direct forum at all the problems being posted by their customers. I have had some there in the past too, because it was too hard to deal with their customer service over the phone and they messed up my computer a couple of times with the trouble shooting, instead of checking first to see that internet service was down in my area. Maybe that is why I don't see as many problems posted here for the company I'm with, problems can be taken care of over the phone easier.
I know that some are stuck with certain providers because of location, and that sucks if the service is bad and the cost is high. Right now I have more choices for service providers in my area if I become unhappy with the service or the price becomes too high with my current service provider. But, I will never willingly go back to Bell.
The main point is I'm getting exactly what I wanted at a price I wanted. So, I am happy. Can't I be happy? -- "Whenever they invent something that's moron proof, someone comes by and invents a better moron."

youd be surprised how many ppl dont read reviews, look how many ppl signed up for cable gator, or gator cable and got screwed -- Happiness is like peeing your pants... Everyone can see it, but only you can feel its Warmth!! |
|
 | Buyer beware.
Scams have been happening and in the news for so long now that if someone blindly signs up for a service without checking it out first then things like cable gator will happen to them. Then for sure, I hope, they learn a lesson so it won't happen again to them. Even my parents who are seniors would know to check it out first, ask around and read reviews. And, they do that because they have read about all the different scams in the news a lot.
Anyways, this is OT. This thread is about price increases to existing services and how some of us can't justify it for services that have stayed the same for years. Believe it or not, but some service providers have been known to give you little something for the price increase. Like a little upgrade in speed or a little extra bandwidth a month. Bell never did anything like that.
I just love the card sent to us, saying how sorry they are to see us go. How valued and appreciated we were. If you are really that sorry you would have treated us as valued and appreciated customers while we were your customers for 30 years phone service, many years Bell dial-up and 6 years on the Sympatico Performance package. Yes, it really shows how valued and appreciated we were. (sarcasm)

Important - Please note that effective November 1, 2013, the monthly price of your Home phone package will increase by $2.01. Price adjustments support our continued investments in network, product and service enhancements. Learn more at bell.ca/evenbetter. At any time, if you have questions or wish to add, modify, cancel or extend services, please call us at 310-BELL (2355). Nice. Why even bother telling us that this is happening yet again, Bell? Just arbitrarily charge whatever you want. Rate hikes seem to be happening every quarter, now, anyway. I love the special website they cooked up to try to justify the latest increases:
quote: Expanding the Bell Media family. This year saw Astral join the Bell Media family. This investment reinforces our commitment to create and provide world-class programming to our clients. For example, this year alone clients can expect to enjoy a new Discovery-branded French language channel.
Right, uh huh, yep. Sorry, Bell -- I don't care, and nobody loves Bell so much that they wanted you to gobble up Astral, as if the takeover would improve the programming offering somehow. Is it just me, or are Bell's latest excuses for hiking rates sounding like they're mistakenly written to appease shareholders instead of customers? What if you don't subscribe to TV with Bell, yet they tell you the Astral purchase essentially needs to be funded with increases to home phone and Internet charges? Robbing Peter to pay Paul!! |

pretty much win win for Bell, those who complain will be happy to get a "retention deal" back on the old price, and those who don't will pay more. |
|
 | The retention deal they offered me was for only 6 months, then back up to the new prices. I said no deal and left. Now waiting for the money they owe me for charging me for phone services I didn't have anymore. |
|
 | No retention either. I got on the Fibe deal back in February and already a price increase while I'm under contract! I called to cancel and they made no attempt at retention. Thank you for your business and we will be charging you $192 penalty for cancelling early. Back to OTA!! |

Don't forget about the mistake Bell made when Bell announced the price increase for going over your cap.
'As of Sept 1, 2013, the usage overage fee for your Internet plan will increase to $4/GB, not $2/GB as formerly communicated. We are sorry for any confusion this may have caused.'
What was the old fee? |
