Reinstalled it from the download at the Norton site. Still cannot scan files from the context menu (as I could before applying the update)

1 recommendation | My context menu shows the Norton Internet Security entry just like your second screenshot does. Have you tried uninstalling, and then running the Norton Removal Tool, before reinstalling the new version?
Not sure if it would fix your issue, but that's what I'd try.
**Edit to warn that should you decide to use the Norton Removal Tool, to the best of my recollection, when run, it will remove/uninstall "ALL" Symantec products from your computer (it warns you about this). It can't be set to only uninstall a specific product.
