Hello,I'm new with Zyxel USG 50 firewall and I've got a problem. I'm trying to limit access to a network printer to only certain users.I've added IP/MAC bindings for the devices that should be able to access the printer. Also added the HP_PRINTER object containing the IP-address of the printer.Next up was to deny everyone from the printer, added a rule saying this:From: anyTo: LAN1Schedule: NoneUser: anySource: anyDestination: HP_PRINTERService: anyAccess: denyLog: logWhen anyone tries to visit the IP of the printer, it works. Nothing gets denied. What am I doing wrong?
If the printer is on the same network as users then the traffic flows through the switch only and never gets to the firewall. You need to move the printer to different network in order to be able to utilize the firewall.
Hi!Thanks for your quick reply, much appreciated! In order to move the printer to a different network, can I do it virtually? My current setup looks like this:LAN --- USG50 --- Airport Extreme (bridged mode)The printer is connected to the same WiFi network as the clients
You need to create let's say LAN2 on different USG port and move the printer to it.
OK! Thanks!I'll setup an AP on the physical server on LAN2 and make sure the printer is connected to that interface Thanks again!
