I should probably dump these notes here before I forget them.

* The forum file attachment uploader is more slick, and supports IOS and mobile
* Mobile and tablet browsers are detected and the site is more appropriately formatted for them
* There is a mobile / desktop mode switch to over-ride the default sensing
* Attached images are thumbnailed more reliably, and animated gifs are supported
* Pictures from phones are rotated correctly before display
* iPhones or other mobile browsers can post pictures directly from camera or album
* Push notifications replace polling for IMs, topic and forum updates (if the browser supports them)
* https can be used site wide
* login is via https rather than being optional
* pushover (pushover.net) notifications are supported
* domain dslr.to registered, used for appropriate link shortening (notifications etc)
* smokeping can now resolve dynamic DNS targets it is not restricted to IPs
* slow pages and slow database queries have been optimized away
* the layout of forums topics, ISP reviews, news and so on has been cleaned up
* the RSS feed reader uses async IO so is now much faster to notice changes in RSS feeds
* social network widgets have been added to news, and are also available from forum topics at the top
* news stories with a lot of commentary show only upvoted posts by default
* upvoting is public and more accessible once a post has one vote
* moderation actions have more transparency and explanation
* post quick reply and the transition to full reply has been streamlined
* ISP review spam and forum post spam prevention is more betterer
* page footers holding a larger set of links to key parts of the site
* a boatload of small bug fixes
* heymod forum, to allow meta-moderation discussion issues in private
* forum re-organisation to reflect current traffic and interests (ongoing)
* post quoting based on highlighting (parts of) other posts and clicking the button
* FAQ Q+A editor upgraded to WYSIWYG html editor and FAQ display cleaned up
* Vertical navigation is now sticky when scrolling in WebKit or Gecko based browsers (but not tablets or phones)
* smokeping results are now displayed "in page", and anon smokeping requests get an email with the result link
* direct support forums are now sortable as the oldest unlocked topic with no last reply from a tech at the top of the forum
* post attached images are now scaled correctly on mobile devices
* attaching files and images to post - drag drop also available
* direct support forums "first post" template support
