Jumpy text in text entry box has returned. (full reply and edit)
Cannot place cursor in the box without text jumping upward, if text is longer than box.
You fixed it again, but it has returned.

Quoting highlighted text looks interesting and I will try it.
However, the new label on the button does not explain that its previous function defaults if I do not highlight anything.
I had to try it to learn this.
BTW, is the jumpy text a side effect of the quoting mod ? |

said by Davesnothere:Jumpy text in text entry box has returned. (full reply and edit) I used IE8 and saw how awful it is without auto-growing textarea, so added it back in because tbh it didn't jump on my IE8 but you know how much IE8 sucks, it is probably yet another IE8 oddity that must be worked around. I'll look at it later, at the moment I'm getting 'Quote Highlighted' button working on IOS, as it only does the full quote like the old one. |

said by Davesnothere:Jumpy text in text entry box has returned. (full reply and edit) Just to be clear I can't make it malfunction in IE8 for quick reply, only in full reply, no matter how much text goes in. Is that what you find? |

Thanks for reconfirming my sanity. Still, I will not miss what I never had, though I did TRY it one day in FF and appreciate the purpose of having the text box expand as I type, but I have too many other reasons to keep using IE8, and too few reasons to change to something else. Wasn't this bug bothering FF 23 too ? Anyone ? |

I changed the textarea width for IE8 in full reply from "full width" to a fixed width, it seems to make it less herky-jerky but try it. |

One more clue :
It seems to not be how many LINES of text, but instead how many overall CHARACTERS are in the text box, which triggers the bug.
On one further repeat of tests :
QR is stable regardless of how many characters (or lines).
FR & Edit become flakey when enough lines CONTAINING enough characters are in the box.
And I THINK that I completed that test before you made that last change.
Your reply appeared just now, while QR was still active for me. - K00L.
BTW, This reply was in QR mode. |

Yes - much better - no more jumping, even on a post which has a whole screen worth of text in it. Thanks ! |
|
Davesnothere |
And QR still expands downward and is stable when I paste the same large block of text into it.
(which may encourage me to use QR more sometimes)
Weird that QR was stable while the others were not.... |

Interesting. I'm also using FireFox 23.01. It looks like there is a minimum character count for the feature to work. If I only highlight "FireFox 23.01", it fails and copies the whole thing... but If I include the "to box. " it works fine... |

21 character minimum? Also, it doesn't catch a quote within a quote. If you highlight an inner quote, it copies it fine-ish, but if you include the "said by xyz" in your highlight... it fails to capture the actual subquote. said by Immer:to box. FireFox 23.01 quote within a quote gets attributed to outer poster if you catch the "said by" it fails. I don't think these are bugs, just limitations of the tools. I still love it! |
