FAQ: Cable transfers

What should you expect during a cable transfer?

If you’re currently with Rogers or Cogeco then good news, a transfer is pretty painless. Simply get a cancellation date from them at least 10 business days out and let us know. We’ll co-ordinate to move your service over on that same day, easy.

If you’re currently with another third-party ISP then a transfer is still possible to save some money but the seamlessness of it will very much will depend on how co-operative they are in sending a disconnection notice in early of the actual disconnect date, ie send the disconnect notice today but with an effective date of 2 weeks out for example. Some ISP’s will do this, some won’t. For the ones that won’t what it means is we are not able to confirm your transfer until they have submitted that disconnect notice. Additionally, if you’re bringing your own modem then that too has to wait until it’s been released with the cable carrier before we’re able to have it moved to our profile, ie a modem can only be bound to one profile at any given time. If your internet really matters to you, I would highly recommend picking the install option and using a new modem.

Again, if you’re transferring from the cable carrier directly none of this is an issue and can all be co-ordinated on your disconnection date with them.
