 | [Networking] Wake On LAN (WOL) works from within LAN but not ove I had setup my Verizon FIOS Actiontec router (version D running firmware 4.0.16.1.56.0.10.14.4) to wake up my computer over the LAN/WAN few months ago using the steps described in:
Verizon Online FiOS FAQ »How do I enable Wake On LAN (WOL) with the MI424WR
This setup worked both from LAN and WAN (Internet).
I was trying to wake up my computer yesterday over WAN and it was not working. I have gone over the setup multiple times and all settings are in place, and yet I do not receive the magic packet from Internet. I installed a Magic Packet sniffer on my desktop, and it gets the packet when sent from another device on my LAN, but not when I send it over the Internet (DSL reports WOL page, for example)
Any suggestions to troubleshoot / fix this issue are welcome! |

|
 | Yes, the ARP entry is there for 192.168.1.254 -> ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff |
|
 | Today I tried to wake my computer remotely again over the Internet (WAN) from »/wakeup and it still did not work.
Then on a hunch I tried it from »www.wakeonlan.me/ ... and it worked!
So it seems my router setup is fine, it is sending magic packets from dslreports that has some issues. |

[Networking] Re: Wake On LAN (WOL) works from within LAN but not Hi there, I'm trying to configure WOL also, and following the FAQ, where is the PROTOCOLS? In this step? ------------- Now login to the Actiontec and Add WAKE-ON-LAN as a port forward protocol in the Actiontec: Click on ADVANCED icon at top Select Protocols --------------- I DO NOT SEE THIS ADD (at bottom of list) Service name: Wake-On-LAN Add server port ------------- I have the Rev. I (Gig ports), I see no Protocols anywhere. Can you help? |
