[Troubleshooting] removing back cover from Samsung Galaxy S3

The user manual says to remove the back cover to change the battery or SIM card. I thought it would easily come off but it doesn't. I put my fingernail in the slot at the top and pulled but the cover stayed on. Is there a trick to get the cover off? I hope I don't have to use a tool. Thanks for your responses.

Pull harder... I've taken mine off many, many times. The cover is very flexible, in my opinion, so it's pretty unlikely that you'll break it.

It comes off really easy... not sure why you can't get yours off.

Thanks for the information. I will pull harder. I was just afraid I would break the 2 weeks old phone. The ifixit website says to use a tool to safely remove the back cover. Just being cautious after reading that. Thanks again.

No tool is needed, that's just, odd.

Just use the cover opening at the top and work a fingernail around the perimeter of the phone. Once you get enough of it released the cover pops off without a problem.

I've pulled the cover off of my S3 plenty of times!

Remember removing the cover from any electronic device may allow all of the bugs to escape!

I'd be more worried about the magic smoke
