[Lens] I think my 18-70mm Nikon DX lens died

I can no longer get it to focus period,, cleaned the contacts, checked the switches and still nothing, so I've for the time being just been doing manual focus.

I assume it's not worth it to have it repaired?

Just to add a note, there are AF/MF switches on both camera body and lens. Are both on AF? I only ask because the same problem was experienced by a friend and his lens

The 18-70 is one of the best kit lenses Nikon produced. I still use mine for 80% of all my work.

That's why I've pointed out I checked everything.. I've had this lens for 8 years now.

Since the listing on the Nikon site wont give me a price I assume it's more then $150 so in that case I would be better off just getting another since the going rate seems to be about $150 on ebay.

Experience has taught me that Nikon repairs usually run about 1/3 the price of replacement though small repairs, like a cracked flash foot, can be as low as $35. I'd definitely give them a call and ask about an estimate before offering it on eBay. Any lens that doesn't focus isn't likely to fetch all that much anyway.

I was not trying to sell it on ebay I was saying it would be about the same buying a used lens on ebay.

Sorry I misread your post. If the cost turns out to be the same I'd rather have a lens serviced and repaired by Nikon than a lens, with unknown history, from eBay.
