 | [Retouch] Request for help with improving clarity of old photo May I ask whether any forum members can improve the clarity of the attached? It's a photo of my grandfather's butcher's shop in Nottingham, England. I imagine it was taken early in the last century. He was born in 1859, and in the 1891 census his occupation is listed as "Butcher (em'er") (= employer?). Despite the fact that he could neither read nor write, he was a successful businessman - he also raised 14 children!
Many thanks. |

You need to post a larger scan. |

 | Thank you. The photo was printed on a postcard, so is quite small (5 /14 x 3 1/2 inches, approximately). Can anything be done with it, if it's that small |

Just ran it through IrfanView to crop it a bit - no changes to image; I just clicked on the image, opened it in a separate tab and saved it. This size might be more helpful.

1 recommendation | Thanks all. Those do bring out a little more detail in what is a dark old photo. |
