Re: [Hockey]Official Toronto Maple Leafs 2013-2014 Hockey Thread yes, Bernier is better in that regard...hopefully playing together, Reimer can improve on that part as well. |

Yes, rebound control is an issue. That 4th Ottawa goal was kicked out to the left faceoff dot. |

One thing that Bernier is clearly better than Reimer is puck handling. He rarely gives up rebounds and when he does he scoops them up around his crease.
With Reimer it's always been and adventure with rebounds. --

don't get me wrong, i don't think Reimer is the 2nd coming of Brodeur, and it certainly wasn't his best performance, but the team in front of was playing like shit...as is often the case, the goalie change woke up the players, and when combined with Bernier's play, the team rallied to win. |

I don't disagree with that assessment. I expect Bernier to end up with a lock on the #1 spot before Christmas. |

When your d is getting stripped of the puck less than 5 feet from the net and the rest of the team is standing around watching it happen, that isn't Reimers' fault. We`ll agree to disagree....I think Reimer is a very good backup that`s all. Bernier is the better keeper of the two and will take the Leafs farther.

He floated around for 3 years. I said early on when it looked like Raymond was going to make the Leafs he would do well because he had some muscle to protect him. Something her never really had in Vancouver.

Leafs are giving up a ton of shots again...
Anyway good comeback, I think Carlyle did the right thing and changed goalies, cuz one more goal and I think the team would have folded... --

Nikolai Kulemin is out for a couple of weeks after blocking a Phaneuf shot in practice.

Anyone who believes soccer or basketball are contact sports or can be compared to the speed and intensity of hockey really has no credibility to comment on our beloved sport...
Compare the fighting in the NHL to todays. Our present flavor of the NHL is much more tame when it comes to fighting today....
I'm NOT a fan of fighting in hockey. It often takes away from the flow of the game BUT I do realize it does serve a purpose that is beyond the entertainment aspect of the game. There is a reason why 98% of the NHLPA polled do not want to ban hockey and I think it has very little to do with entertainment....
It is often reported that many a major US network like NBC or Fox is often concerned about the fighting in hockey. A couple of reasons are probably, they tend to air their national broadcasts at the family hour (afternoon) and fighting adds time to their broadcasts which infringe into regular scheduled broadcasts... |
