my apologies...i thought he was smiling, it was his mouth guard...either way, i doubt Kessel thought he was seriously going to get jumped by Scott.

I've watched the video. I even happen to agree that it was Kessel reacting.

What I'm laughing at is the absurdity of you claiming to be unbiased.

just because i am a Leafs fan, doesn't mean i can't be objective about the topic...i am pretty objective about most topics here, regardless of my personal preferences about the subject matter.

Unintended consequence:

This fight is going to burn up some of the Leafs remaining cap space. Clarkson's full cap hit still applies during his suspension, and they'll need to bring up someone for those 10 games. Not necessarily a lot though - $70k to 135k, depending on who gets the call. But it could burn a year on an entry level if they keep the same player up for all 10 games.

It is possible they just start the season with fewer healthy scratches, though. Especially if there are multiple suspensions.

yes, it could be a problem (cap implications)...although, i'm sure the Leafs have someone to fill the role (perhaps move someone below up, and bring up someone cheap to fill lower line role)...in any event, they will have no choice but to figure it out...Clarkson shouldn't have left the bench, and Kessel shouldn't have swung his stick.

I think the issue is more the impact it has on trying to sign Franson, and possibly Mason Raymond since he's looked pretty good so far on the PTO.

Raymond has looked decent...rumours are mentioning a price of about $1 million, so there certainly is room for him...that of course digs into Franson's pie though...Franson should have accepted previous offers or went to arbitration...it doesn't look like he will play this year, and that does him no good.

I think Raymond will do well for you. He's a bit "shy" if you know what I mean so on a
team like the Leafs with Orr and Co. he may feel a bit safer.

Biill Watters on 640 Toronto today said he thought Kessel will get 5 games (not sure if that is 5 total including preseason or all regular season)

They gave Kassian 5 plus the rest of the pre-season for being careless with a stick. Kessel will get 0 for being a star player. He should just play not run his mouth off incessantly. He deserves a smack.

Kassian also broke Gagne's jaw, who will now miss a fair amount of playing time...while i've already said numerous times that i'm not excusing Kessel for what he did, he didn't injure Scott at all.

the fact there is a meeting at 4pm leads me to believe it will be 5 games...i'm ok with that...suspensions during pre-season really mean nothing...it's the regular season suspensions that truly punish...take Clarkson for example...he makes $64k per game, therefore, that 10 game suspension will cost him $640,000...that hurts.

Clarkson may be appealing his 10 game suspension. The rule is clear IMO what is there to appeal? At least with Biznasty they were in the process of a line change, but not in this circumstance

It wasn't a hockey stick or a lightsaber that Kessel was swinging - here's the real footage:

Not going to speculate on Kessel's punishment but this had nothing to do with Kessel 'running his mouth off incessantly'. In fact he's notoriously shy and probably talks less than most players. But hey at least you've let us all know that you don't know what you're talking about.
