High temps = fire danger
Two dangerous fires in this heat:
A fire in Sonoma County burned several buildings including a pallet factory, now 60% contained..
A wildfire started along Morgan Territory Rd at Mt Diablo State Park this afternoon...only 10% containment and 800 acres burned already..
Port Costa, CA
I got called to go to the IC for the Morgan fire around 4pm. Its past midnight and we have some relief coming around 5am tomorrow morning. Over 300+ personnel now here.
Anyone in the area can tune into 151.160 mhz that's our IC channel.
20% containment by tonight, but still a lot of work to do. The fog coming back tonight should help slow the explosive spread of the fire by lowering temperatures and raising the relative humidity. The terrain up there is really severe but the number of bulldozers available here should help with making fire breaks to get more containment.
My SIL in Concord is helping at one of the command posts, she is a CERT volunteer. (Community Emergency Response Team) Handing out 3000 bottles of donated water to try to keep the firefighters hydrated she says...
100 homes and Clayton are still in danger if the winds shift the fire that direction.
Some time lapse pics of the fire as seen from Pleasant Hill:

As most of you know, the fire is almost 100% contained now. 3200 acres and possibly started by someone target shooting.
