Commercial Cable HSIHi Rocca; Any idea yet when you will offer commercial accounts? I have customers that want it. I also know some customers of a competitor that want/need a new vendor as their existing TPIA vendor has become unreliable and is costing these companies money. |

Are you talking about TPIA at business addresses, or EoC? (the commercial version of cable internet using dedicated vlans, etc?) Thanks. |

I've been harassing Rocca for a while about this too. My church just switched to Cogeco business because their old ISP (iktel) was junk, and we couldn't find any affordable alternatives. They were one of the only ones offering business cable though, at respectable speeds.
Can we get an idea of the holdup Rocca? is it that Robellus is challenging the tarrifs for business, capacity costs, something else?
I know of a half dozen businesses who would love to get off their 6/800k dsl packages and on to 30meg+ cable connections.
Especially for VoIP, running even a 3-4 person office with a 6/800k DSL connection and keeping VoIP happy isn't the easiest...
EDIT: for me just commercial TPIA |

There are a few issues, the biggest being the qualification system. Ie, there is no option to pull cable into a business for TPIA _at all_, and for the EoC (Red territories only) product it's only if near-net and even then the installation cost is often prohibitive. For the Cogeco side it's just so vague, we've tried a number of times and came back with install costs like $25,000 to run cable from one side of a building to the other. So, logistically it's challenging and we haven't been able to justify the resources to do it consistently up to our standards yet. |

I wonder what Iktel has been doing in Cogecoland. Our church signed up with them 18-24 months ago on a business cable plan. Cogeco (or contractor) came out and ran coax to the lan closet for them.
Knowing iktel I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to put it through as a residential install, but you'd think Cogeco would notice that and block it. |

Probably got lucky with an installer that didn't know better. |

could be, but they advertise (on their website designed by a 2 year old) business cable, so they must expect they can install. |

Possibly, I try not to comment about other ISP's. But what we've found is that there isn't the level of consistency yet for us to be able to market and deliver that product up to our standards. |

Not exactly. On road for a few days and a little too involved to type out on my phone. For the time being though we're not doing business cable but expect we will in the future. |

He has been been offered professional website design for free by no less than 5 people, I was the first. His simple answer is "No thanks." Everything is hosted on his own in-house server (which is why his website disappears when there is a blackout - same for VOIP server and their loss of their own phone system). He refuses to outsource and is paranoid someone will rip him off. |

I'm a lot like that myself really, except I'm not trying to run an ISP on my own Anyway, if that's the case, the occasional shutdowns couldn't be about Iktel not being ABLE to pay their bills. |

I'm sure it'll come, but we aren't doing it at this time. |
