Re: [Hockey] Official Vancouver Canucks 2013-2014 Hockey Thread I know it's only a few games in but I'm seeing more Five Hole goals than ever. The small change to the pads (on some keepers) is causing them grief.

said by Kardinal:Very true. No differentiation between 5'11" and 6'5", all of whom can use a 26" stick, but you have to be 6'6" to use a 28" stick. Robin Lehner is a goalie who's affected by this, and was explaining that now that his stick is 2" shorter than the one he's been using for 5 years he has had to alter the way he bends his legs, the way he bends his back....basically, altering his entire stance. All because he's 6'5" and not 6'6".
I can think of only one goalie that is 6'6" or taller: Ben Bishop (who is 6'7"). Anyone I'm missing? I thought all goalies now couldn't use a paddle longer than 26"..
But if you goto NHL.com and sort the goalies based on height... You notice alot of the tallest goalies are getting killed.
Its was a brutal time to change the rule. Should have been done at the end of regular season.
It would be like going to Chara and removing his exception for the tall stick. That would be fun watching him wiff on everything |

Basically if your a tall goalie now you cant use a stick that fits you.

Well Torts has to definitely change one thing and that's the Canucks only scoring 1 goal again.............they do this on a consistent basis.

4-1 for the Sharks Sedins & Burrows line end the game with two shots on goal combined. EIGHT Canucks with zero shots on goal. Sharks had two players with no shots. -- Some hero's wear capes, mine wear combat boots. |

Luongo is actually playing well. First goal was just an almost unstroppable shot and the 2nd Tanev screened him. Then Burrows hits the post on an empty net.
2-1 Sharks after 2.

Can't wait for their first trip to the United Center this year, so the Blackhawks can beat up on Bobby Lou some more! =)
Nice to see hockey back!
And now that the Wings are in the East, us Hawks fans have to find a new Rival =) |

the Twins are not like other people.
They will even take less money, but won't cause any trouble. |

Though if they walk, who would have the cap space going in to next season to take the "2 for 1" deal that they represent? They'll be traded before the Canucks will let them just walk away.

Gotta say I'll be watching the 'Nucks games when I can simply because there's enough drama on the ice & behind the bench that win or lose, it will be entertaining

As to the whole Luongo mess, this just proves to me the Gillis can't run a lemonade stand NVM a hockey team...

Re: Canucks sign Jannik Hansen to extension said by ZZZZZZZ:The Vancouver Canucks have announced that they've reached a four-year contract extension with winger Jannik Hansen.
Hansen had 27 points in 47 games last season.
Probably the one player that really stood out last year and he should be better this year. Anybody watching a Canucks game will within the first 10 minutes realize Hansen is the hardest working player on the ice. There isn't a coach in the NHL who wouldn't want him on their team. He's a tenacious checker, can score, skates like the wind and not afraid of taking or giving a hit.
Always an unsung hero award winner in my books.

Re: [Hockey] Official Vancouver Canucks 2013-2014 Hockey Thread Good move.
Send Schneider somewhere that might possibly have a chance in the next few years, and keep Luongo on a team that won't make the playoffs for the next three year. Luongo can rest up now - he got burnt out there for a few years. |
