KilroyPremium,MVM join:2002-11-21 Saint Paul, MN | Proving grounds Did them on my Protection Paladin and Frost Mage. Bronze is a give me at iLvl450+. Didn't make silver on either. Got to the 8/8 for the Mage, but didn't have the DPS to burn it down and didn't pop my mirror image, because I was saving it and didn't see it was the last fight.
I'll go back after I get more of the Timeless gear and see how it goes. -- "Progress isn't made by early risers. It's made by lazy men trying to find easier ways to do something." - Robert A. Heinlein |

Roided join:2012-01-04 Coraopolis, PA | I messed around with it a bit on my 498 arms warrior last night. I got through bronze and silver pretty easily but got stuck on wave 8 on gold. Only tried it a couple times but there are banshees that spawn that seem to wipe you if you dont down them within a few seconds. I feel like classes with strong aoe will have an easier time doing these. |

No time for Flex so after getting bored of the Timeless Isle I did the healer proving grounds. No deaths, but it got a bit scary on gold. You have to dispel, the tank who takes a load of damage which you can't easily heal through and mana management was a pain. |

I might get back to the proving grounds tomorrow since I've gotten some nice gear upgrades on my toons and see if I fare any better. I'll only be doing the tank and DPS versions. Really all it is, like most of the rest of the game, finding a strategy that works. I don't know what cat666 iLvl is, to get gold, but I'd bet raid level gear. With decent heroic gear I was able to get to the end of silver without much issue.
Part of the issue is not knowing what comes next, in time that will be well documented. Right now you save your cool downs for when you think you might need them. And as always if the rng hates you, there's not much that you can do about it. -- "Progress isn't made by early risers. It's made by lazy men trying to find easier ways to do something." - Robert A. Titles too, but you have to do bronze, silver, gold then get to wave 30 in endless. |

Healing wise, I was only ilevel 505.Do Proving Grounds scale armour though? Your very first post suggested to me it did. People tell me I'm a good healer though.
If not, then I honestly facerolled over bronze. Silver was a slight issue but only due to some poor mana management and me thinking it would be as faceroll as bronze. Gold I played almost to perfection, but still suffered with mana issues. I used the Shado-Pan trinket as soon as I dipped below 200k, and then Mana Tide Totem as soon as I then dipped below 100k. By the time I was sub 100k again the trinket was off CD.
The healing waves test every aspect of being a healer. You have to dispel, you have to watch your step, you have to heal and manage mana and interupting helps too. The damage taken is high, so much so my usual healing tactic of spamming Healing Wave didn't cut it and I had to use Greater Healing Wave far often than I liked. |

The Timeless Isle gear should be a huge help to at least get me to silver, but I don't know how much higher I'll be able to get without raiding. -- "Progress isn't made by early risers. I gave it a shot yesterday also on my Aff lock (not to be confused with Aflac Insurance) and Icy Mage. Able to get through silver on both of them with just face rolling (and messaging people during on my 'lock). The mage faired much better for handling the AoE situations but I didn't get through Gold on either. Proving Grounds scales gear to ilvl 463, just like Challenge Modes. This is why I found trying to do it as a Combat Rogue so annoying with the new class changes. At that ilvl, energy regen is a major issue with the new 50 energy cost on Sinister Strike. It's more tolerable at higher gear levels, but that doesn't help for Proving Grounds.
said by »www.wowhead.com/news=219282/wowh···-rewards : Gearing Rules
The gearing rules in Proving Grounds are quite similar to those in Challenge Modes:
Any item above ilvl 463 are scaled down to ilvl 463; items that are 463 or below are not affected or scaled up.
Any trinket of ilvl 463 or higher is a valid choice because of the wide selection of unique procs, so you have a wide array of trinkets to consider compared to armor.
For specs that use hit and/or expertise (all non-healing specs), if you were hit/expertise capped normally, you will remain hit/expertise capped in a Challenge Mode.
Tier set bonuses are not active, and neither are Sha-Touched Gems, legendary meta gems, or legendary cape procs.
Stats from flasks, enchants, other gems, and profession bonuses are not reduced.

Tried it tonight. Tried both the tank and the dps tests. The tank test is a snooze fest until Gold when you get multiple mobs that reduce armor and put a bleed on you. CD use, plus dps. Very interesting. I am very close to gold on DPS too. I make it to 9/10 before I run out of time. So many amber traps to run from. If you get caught without that OP human racial and you lose 8 seconds. I need to try to wait to at least wave 4 or 5 before grabbing the Bloodlust box.
So far the only toon I have stunk it up on has been my warrior. I have issues with the tank aoe pickup. So much easier on all of my other tank classes. |

As Disc, bronze and silver were easy. I went oom on gold, I'll try it again another time.
I tried to tank it as Disc on bronze, seems I am a bad tank. |

 | said by Cake:As Disc, bronze and silver were easy. I went oom on gold, I'll try it again another time. Yeah gold seems to be all about mana management. I struggled, and my mana management is pretty good (Shaman's mastery probably helped a lot too). You literally have to use trinkets and cooldowns as early as you can without wasting them, so they come off cooldown to be used a second (or third/fourth) time. Even with almost perfect management you still have to break out powerful heals which eat mana like nobody's business. |

I did bronze and silver a couple of days ago on my fury warrior. Pretty easy for both. Gold is definitely much harder. I gave it a few tries, but by that point I was a zombie from lack of sleep. I'll give it another try this week. -- KI6RIT |

If the healer isn't cc'ed I just don't have enough interrupts and it heals the others back to full.

I didn't see the CC'er at first, so I was nuking the healer and trying to interrupt while putting up some aoe.
then saw the amber orb moved but just got the plain mob cc'ed instead of the healer mob

You do extra damage to mobs that are cc'd by the amber, so I found the best strategy on most rounds was to have them cc the one you wanted to kill. For that round, I started on the healer, interrupted the first heal, then when the cc came, moved to the other side so it hit him and finished him off. -- Brain: Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering? It took a considerable amount of effort and facedesking, but I finally got it this past sunday. Endless looks to be considerably tougher. I also did it without the 2% armor meta, as I didn't realize at the time that the legendary meta effect doesn't activate. If you're doing gold, definitely recommend food, flasks, and pots.
