Mifi 2200 died

I've been on the $40 unlimited 3g plan from Virgin for several years now. My Mifi 2200 died. I ordered a new one off of Ebay. How do I change the devices out and keep my same grandfathered plan?

unless its a "Virgin Mobile" branded mifi, you won't be able to use it.

Here is what you should try:

1. goto virginmobileusa webpage and select activate in upper right

2. click on the "click here" near the bottom under Broadband2Go Activation.

3. choose "I want to switch to a new device".

4. Follow on screen prompts.

I had this work for me several times in the past, but I will admit it didn't work for me once they did this most recent billing switch. So I would recommend you try it online, and if it fails then give them a call and have a customer care person swap devices for you (good luck and may you get someone who knows what they are doing ).

The grandfathered plan is attached to the account, not the device.

And of course it needs to be a clean and clear virginmobileusa device.

Thanks, I haven't received new one yet, but I'll try the online switch first. Hopefully that works for me. And I did order a new Virgin Mobile mifi so it's the exact same model I have, I'm just switching it out.

Hopefully you didn't pay more than $72 bucks for it--I see Virgin has a sale on their Overdrive Pro.

No, I only paid $37 for a new one on Ebay, and wimax is not available in my area so the Overdrive Pro wouldn't help me any

Yeah I may never see 4G where I live either. But I always like the latest/greatest stuff. I do have both their USB760 and MiFi2200 still in their original plastic from when VM had their close-out sale. I hope they work if-or-when I need them!

It's 3 years now that my MC760 has been in-place 24/7 (well, one road trip with my netbook too). Knocking on wood but it's been mostly great.

I just wanted to let everybody know that I got the new mifi. It wouldn't let me switch it online but I called Virgin and they switched it out no problem. Just had to give them the ESN number and now it works great.
