In my case, it's intermittent bursts of noise in the cable plant that is knocking out the upstream channels. If I catch the modem signal page right before it reboots, I can often see the upstream power level shooting up 5-8 dBmV.
I have also been seeing this a lot the last 2 weeks. Lots of reboots due to T4 timeouts. Sometimes several times an evening. A few times I happen to log into the modem and noticed the upstream was up to 52 or 53 and then the modem would reboot, a little later the upstream was back to where it usually is at 46. There were 3 days in a row where it happened at 2:12 in the afternoon, which seems an odd time to do maintenance that knocks people off the internet.
Seems to be improving so far this week, only 1 reboot during the day. Almost went and got a 6141 to replace my 6121 but think I'll hold off for now. |

That's your problem. The T4's are being generated due to the high / fluctuating upstream power level. |

Re: Loss of connection, T4 timeouts Comcast came out and said they fixed the problem on their end and my T4 timeouts and signal fluctuations are gone. Thanks Comcast. |

 | Mine have also gone away, without doing anything at all on my end.
Last few weeks I've been back to the normal one or 2 reboots a week. |

For curiosity, what do your upstream power levels look like now ? |
|
 | Upstream levels are about the same as they have been for the last 2 years, mostly 46 and 47, sometimes 48db. That's where they were most of the time during the 2 weeks of lots of timeouts, I would only see the higher values if I happened to look at them right before a reboot.
I didn't notice (or don't remember) what the downstream was doing when I saw the spikes in upstream, those usually fluctuate between 1 and 4. |

Re: [Connectivity] Loss of connection, T4 timeouts It's been a week since my last reboot, the longest trouble-free period since the middle of June. I'm really hoping it's gone for good... -- KI6RIT |
