1 recommendation | Time to move on A few weekends ago, I went to a old friends house. He was on dial up for ages and always talking about this WISP that was going to bring service to his house soon. They recently brought up a new tower and he signed up. I was amazed that he was paying around $50 a month for a 6/3 service with a 200 GB cap. He was watching you tube videos, playing Xbox live, watching Netflix and all this other stuff you could normally do with a land line. A few days later I signed up online to see if im serviceable (im almost on the edge of their network). They called me up yesterday saying that I can get service, but only with a 50 ft pole with a install fee of $500, split in 3 payments. I decided to bite the bullet and go for it. They were able to install the next day, so heres the results. I signed up for the 6 down, 3 up plan and I get about that speed. I already got it setup though a wireless router connecting everything through the house. If I go over the 200GB cap, they have overages of $1 per gig (which isn't bad compared to Verizon or AT&T). So this is the end of the road for me and millenicom. I already submitted a ticket to cancel my account for my LTE hot spot. I never had any problems with millenicom and would highly suggest it to anyone before surrendering to satellite. Id like to thank the dedicated members of this forum for helping me finding out about millenicom and selecting the proper antenna. Thank you, and the best of luck to all you guys. |

I'm a former Millenicom customer myself, and left about two months ago. Over the past several months several DSL Reports members, and participants in this Millenicom forum, have reported leaving Millenicom. In every case that I've read, they have moved to a service with a higher data cap.
I was very happy with Millenicom for the year or so that I was with them. Their 50 gig cap on their Sprint plan was entirely livable with me, and their service and support were fine.
But the fact is that as speeds get faster, and as web loads become more demanding (more and more Youtube clips now stream in HD, for example), the 50 gig cap becomes less and less realistic, I believe. It certainly did for me, which is why I switched to Wireless 'n' WiFi, which has no specific cap. Since being with WnW, I have downloaded/uploaded an average of 85 gigs monthly. (WnW has informed me that that's at the high-end of the usage range for their company, and that they may have to impose some restrictions down the road. At the moment, however, WnW remains a far less restrictive service than Millenicom.)
At some point, I expect Millenicom may consider lowering their prices to compete more effectively with WnW or, alternately, raising their cap from 50 gigs to something a bit higher. Companies like Millenicom and WnW are an oasis of competitive and reasonable wireless Internet for the mobile user, and I hope such companies remain viable for the foreseeable future.
Just to be clear, I make no suggestions or recommendation with regard to WnW. In a previous message, I indicated that WnW COULD do x, y and/or z, if it wished to strengthen its competitive edge regarding Millenicom. But I never suggested or recommended any of those steps.
But, as you can see above, I most definitely make very specific and quite explicit suggestions/recommendations with regard to steps Millenicom could take to improve its competitive position vis-a-vis WnW. After all, this IS a Millenicom forum, as our friend Jack occasionally (!) points out.
I am an excellent example of the challenge WnW, and companies/plans like them, poses for Millenicom. I was a Millenicom customer; I switched to WnW. That does not make Millenicom evil; that does not make me evil. That does not make Millenicom good; that does not make me good. That does not make WnW good; that does not make WnW evil. That simply means that Millenicom no longer offered a product which fit my needs; WnW did.
Which is why it makes pretty good sense for me, as a former Millenicom customer, to offer ideas on what Millenicom might want to do to attract customers like me who no longer were a good fit for Millenicom.
There is no moral onus here on anyone's part. Yes, some have chosen to sling emotionally loaded terms like disgruntled, bandwidth hog, hijacked, etc. etc. But that is not appropriate or relevant. We're talking dollars and cents here, the fitting of a company's product to a customer's need. It's called capitalism, nothing else; look it up. |

People are getting negative image of wirelessnwifi because you continually come in these forums and hijack Millenicom forum threads to push your personnel agenda . Enough already move on . We all get it . You think Millenicom is the evil empire. They are not , I deal with both companies and they are both run by honest upstanding people. |

| You are putting words in my mouth. I have NEVER characterized Millenicom as an "evil empire." On the contrary, I like them and my experience with them was positive, as it has also been with WnW.
You're the one who needs to stop mis-characterizing my remarks and slinging mud; thank you. |

Criggs you need to move on. You are not a Millenicom subscriber so you have absolutely no weight here. Your constant tirades against Millenicom and how great WnW is is getting tiring. You apparently are someone that just can't grasp we don't want see your long worded postings praising WnW.
Millenicom is doing just fine without any help from you. I use the term help very loosely. When and if we actual subscribers have a problem of comment we will post here on the Millenicom thread. |

Technically, Millenicom is not a 50GB cap, it's Unlimited. The 50GB cap is a soft cap, it alerts Millenicom to a usage that may be caused by someone abusing the service in an unusual circumstance, such as Boting, BitTorrent, Servers...etc. If you are not doing such actions then you can go past the 50GB cap, but it's not recommended as it's pushing it, and people don't want to get their service terminated as they have the right to do that if need be. Also WnW posts are getting old. |

I emailed WnW last weekend. I got a lame response back from some clown named "cellguru" who clearly believes he and WnW walk on water. Mcom, on the other hand, has been very professional in their chats and emails. You never get a second chance to make a first impression. |
