 | [Cable] How long does it take to upgrade to a higher speed? Hey guys, I'm planning on upgrading from 28/1 to 35/3 (I need the upload speed). How long does it usually take it to process the request?
Thanks. |
|
 | Rogers is uber-slow right now. TekSavvy will process the request within 2-5 days, but expect Rogers to take 1-3 weeks after that. The good news is you don't have to make any changes (unless you have a DOCSIS 2.0 modem). |

I want to do the same but with all the posts about bad csr stuff lately, i'm afraid of making changes to anything on my service. |

guys, give it another month or so im sure it will soon to be fine. Rogers is attacking Teksavvy as they wish right now period. |
|
 | Well, guys I'm hearing that the response time with Rogers is getting better. The sooner a change is requested, the sooner it will happen. Why wait? |
|
 | reply to Ando
The only reason to wait is we've seen in the past that went you attempt to upgrade or make any modifications to your service, rogers will fuck up and you will lose your internet. You then will have to wait even longer to get back online because of the amount of issues TekSavvy is currently experiencing.
That said, I made the same upgrade a week ago. Haven't heard anything back in regards to the process.
Also, if you are on 28/1 you will already have the modem capable of 35/3. |

Not really sure why theres such a long wait time for some people.. I ordered my upgrade on Wolfdale on the 16th, friday before the flip. My modem reboot around dinner time on the 24th and I had my 150/10. Why would it take longer for other people? makes no sense. |

Took a couple of weeks for me. Patience is the name of the game.
I did have to do a factory reset on my modem, DCM475 stac 2.16.
Getting consistent 45/4, tested several times a day. |

I submitted my request on the 9th. I haven't gotten so much of a confirmation that the request was made. |

I posted on direct forums for speed change on 11th, got confirmation e-mail the next day and completed on 20th. Nice work, thanks. |

If Rogers wanted to be efficient about speed changes, they would give access to an API that allows TPIAs to make those changes themselves... MyWorld -> speed change -> Rogers API -> done from order to live in 30 seconds. |

It was 26 days for my speed change. Kind of ridiculous for something that technically could be done in a couple of minutes. For example, when I request a service change on my DirecTv system, I log in to the portal, submit the change, and 15 seconds later the changes are applied to my hardware. |

It's Back to school season so TekSavvy will likely be backlogged on these requests.
We're talking maybe 1-2 weeks at minimum according to what I have been reading. |

Huh? If you're on 28/1, you're probably using a docsis2 modem, which although technically capable of 35/3, I wish you good luck in convincing robbers of that. |

I just wanted to update everyone:
On Monday Sept 16th i called in to get my modem swapped. Wednesday Sept 18 I got an email from teksavvy stating its been processed. My Docsis 2 modem stopped working Sunday ~3pm! OK so it took 1 week, not bad at all.
But this is where it gets interesting: Called 5 minutes after my new Docsis 3 modem went online (i know i couldnt wait) at about 4pm I got a confirmation email from Teksavvy, again stating its been processed. At about 6pm I was getting 150mbps speeds!! (I requested 45mpbs). That lasted a bit then locked to 45mbps.
The whole speed changed happened within 2-3 hours!!!! Lucky? maybe. |

I was using a DOCSIS 2 Modem. I wasn't told of this until over a week later when I finally bugged them for an update. "@TekSavvyCSR: Hello! I've reviewed the account and am showing the portal request has not yet been actioned in our system. I can go ahead and place that" The reason I thought I had a DOCSIS 3 Modem is because the TekSavvy customer portal, their upgrade chart says you need a DOCSIS 3 Modem for Cable Extreme 28. So naturally I assumed that I already had DOCSIS 3 Modem since that's the package I had. I found out I was wrong.
I then got a new modem, Rogers "provisioned" it yesterday. Which left me with no internet for another day. I wasn't given the details on what happened but both modems would only receive Rogers internal IPs (10.66.x.x). I wasn't exactly impressed there.
It's pretty sad that I was able to predict that this exact thing would happen (though I'm surprised it only took them 24 hours to correct whatever MAC address they entered). Not to mention it's pretty bad that I can't make even the slightest of changes to my internet package without losing connectivity for at least a day.
We'll see how long it goes down when they finally get around to giving me the speed change. |

Mine took over a month. I suggest trying to forget about it until it surprises you one day, that's what I did. |

They changed the modem requirements somewhere along the line when they decided to stop provisioning docsis2 modems. Technically, a docsis2 modem can handle 38/27. |

I requested my speed upgrade 45/4 from 28/1 last week. This morning no internet *sigh* .. Im sure rogers had a hand in this some how. First noticeable outage I have had in a long time now. |

dcorban join:2003-07-13 Newmarket, ON | I'm glad to see this topic. I just requested an upgrade from 28/1 to 45/4. I'm not in any particular hurry, but sooner would be better than later. I really only need the speed because I have multiple people using the connection at once, but I figured for an extra $9, it's worth it. |

 | reply to Ando
This morning my internet was upgraded to 35/3 without a hitch. Hopefully I won't need to make any further changes.
Still going to file a complaint with the CRTC in regards to what appears to be rogers sabotaging TSI customers. |
