Re: [Cable] How long does it take to upgrade to a higher speed?

said by amonster:

Technically, a docsis2 modem can handle 38/27.

But that would require a dedicated channel operating at full speed both ways. In real-world deployments, channels are shared by dozens of subscribers so practical sustainable speeds on DOC2 are much lower just like how practical sustainable speeds on DOC3 are much lower than the theoretical 300+Mbps on 8-channel bonding.

I requested it on the 22nd and got it on the 24th. I went from 28/1 to 150/10.

I've been out of internet since the 1st due to a move order with no sign of that ending anytime soon. Its both relieving and frustrating to see people requesting speed changes getting processed so quickly.

From the point when I picked up my phone to order a new modem (DCM476>>150/10)and request an upgraded tier to the point service was fully working:

Start: Sept 6/13

End: Sept 21/13

That's unfortunate. I know how bad it can be without Internet. Hang in there

That would never stop RED from advertising it.....

I was without internet for 11 days due to speed upgrade. Rogers f-ed up. I've been telling everyone i know unless they really need the higher speed now, wait till the dust has settled. Just my 0.02.

Ordered it online through TekSavvy Direct sunday night at 2013-Sep-22 10:22 pm, the order went through at 2013-Sep-23 3:07 am, internet went down @ at 0 days 11h:32m:59s ago, speed checked and I got upgraded. So it took about 58 hrs.

Teksavvy are liars, they said it would take around 8 days, it only took 2.5 days.

On a side note I was a little annoyed that my Greensboro migration got pushed back 2 or 3 months and somehow ended up being the last one to be migrated.

I appreciate your diligence. I already have a thread going in the Direct forum. Sadly, there hasn't been any progress with my account yet.

Thank you for your offer.

My request was submitted Friday, September 27. Today I received my monthly Teksavvy invoice and it showed me being on the higher tier. I thought it was odd to be charged before it had taken effect. I just did a speed test and indeed, my connection has already been upgraded!

I did the online portal request to change my 6/.25 to 25/2 on Sept 22, 2013. Their system does not give you any automatic confirmation that the request has been submitted (an email would be nice). I was under the impression the request can take up to 10 business days.
Today, Oct 3, I have received an email from Teksavvy indicating that they have finally submitted my request to rogers and it will take up to another 15 days for everything to go through.
I called Teksavvy to confirm that this is the case and, after 30mins on hold, support confirmed that they only got around to submitting the request today.
So, I guess the correct answer is up to 25 days for someone to type a few numbers in a box.....not exactly stellar customer service from either provider....

I ordered my 45/4 service upgrade from 28/1 on August 13th. As of today that upgrade is still not active. Yes I have a ticket open in the direct forum. Rogers says I was upgraded in early September but I have not seen any speed changes. Tried all the modem reboots and resets. Still no go.

At least I still have 28/1 service... but apparently the next step is to open a "slow speed" ticket... sigh... I suppose that will require a tech to come over who doesn't show at the first appointment.

If you're using a router or ATA to connect through make sure your QoS settings are reconfigured for the new speeds or try to disable QoS altogether.
