Samsung UN46D6500 sound but no picture

My Samsung LED is 21 months old. As of tonight I have sound, but no picture. I am out of warranty as I did not pay for extended years. There is evidence of a glow on start up. Based on previous posts, I am trying a hard reboot tonight and running the air conditioner over night. Any other suggestions for trouble shooting?

Judging from the inbound traffic from search engines this happens a lot to Samsung TVs.

So, after powering down for 10 hrs and running the air conditioner, my Samsung still doesnt have a picture. On powering up the screen lights up then goes dim, then black. I still have sound, but picture did not return. What would my next trouble shooting step be? Thanks.

what's the warranty period? my sharp has a 3 year.........

it sounds like the driver board is shot for the backlight.

Sadly, Samsung informed me that the warranty was only good for one year.
