[Connectivity] Charleston WV Area: Packet Loss
I have been having this issue for close to three months now.
In the evenings, regularly (ie, pretty much every day) after 9-10 PM EST, I get periods of heavy packet loss. These periods can last anywhere from 2-10 minutes. I'v had it happen as late as 4-5 AM. Through the day it works fine, I've never had a single issue (I'm never up past say.. 5 AM, so I'm unsure as to when it actually clears up, but 10 am - 9pm seems safe)
Sudden link Techs have come out, tested the lines and report that everything is within normal specs. The modem has been replaced once, then struck by lightning (lol) replaced again, and then replaced again (docsys 2.0->3.0) when I upgraded speed packages (Was hoping this would resolve the issue.. wrong)
Now I am in some sort of waiting period where the most recent tech (who called someone and checked logs or some such, and could see there was an issue) is monitoring my service. I understand this to mean my modem is emailing him whenever it has an issue? Not sure.
Anyway, I've not heard anything else on the issue, I called again this evening when it began and got less than 0 help from the Suddenlink agent. Lots of generic platitudes and more runaround than I have ever seen before. I'm starting to feel like they either don't know what the problem is, or have identified it yet are unable/unwilling to fix it. At least one of the tech's has mentioned a 'phantom issue' plaguing my neighborhood that they have been unable to track down.
Attached is a screenshot of my modem's status page.
The power levels seem to go back and forth between 10-15 dBmV.
DarkLordIce, please send SDL L3Tech (»/useremail/u/1796447) a PM explaining the above and also include your modem's MAC address and current IP (whatismyip.com) and he'll get to you as soon as he can.
He is an approved forum member and higher level tech from Suddenlink that visit's the forum two or three times a week and has helped several others track down their problems by communicating with your local office on what ever the issue may be. Sometimes it will take a little time to track down and detect these hardware issues that may be within or outside the plant. Please be patient and they will work with you as they've done several others. Good luck!
