Earthlink thinks Clear 4G will be around for a while

Karl has an article on the front page but for those who need the big fixed modem (that clear no longer sells) here is an (albeit more pricey) option.

that modem looks like a rebranded clear hub express. Note the data caps at 10GB even on the premium plan. this is NOT a clear replacement. However it gives the impression WI-MAX will be around for a while. (Note i do have a spare hub express waiting at the UPS store to go pickup) .

Click on the "Additional Data" button for the addon packages (above and over the required minimum base).
There is also some value add with their service (not that I would need them but some might):

Clear Wireless has 10 million plus retail and wholesale subscribers (including Earthlink) using WiMAX. Logical conclusion is that the service will be around for awhile.

I agree about having a spare Clear modem. I just found and bought a new Clear hub express.

How many active Nextel customers did Sprint have when it pulled the plug last June?

Sure ... Nextel had more customers when it combined with Sprint (20 million?) but most of Clearwire's 10 million+ subs are wholesale. I expect that the resellers (Earthlink etc who are now actively selling the service) have the right to continue selling the WiMAX product which means that the WiMAX network will continue to operate. No reason that I can see to kick existing Clear customers (1 million) off the network and stop that revenue stream?

i'm taking a gamble on this being logicial. I have hardware to ride it out until i am forced to choose another not as good option.
