[Connectivity] Constant connection issues in Easton, PA

We haven't had anything come amiss in the last 3 years at our house except the odd out of blue disconnect on the modem. I went through 3 different brand modems in the last 2 months Zoom, Motorola, & lastly Netgear. All Dosis 3 and none could hold a decent connection for more than an hour.

In some cases the transmit power was off the scale closing on 60. Sometimes it would get stuck on pulling an IP, other times it wouldn't lock the upstream.

So after 3 tech visits they again send it's my modem...fine whatever use yours. Well they did and that worked for 4-5 hours then went dead then came back online when I reset it. Currently it seems to be working but they didn't give me a dosis 3. I got a 2 so now I can barely pull 15Mbps when I used to get 25 no problem, when it worked.

At this point I am really done with CS since the notes they write and what the tech puts down never coincide with each other. I came here hoping to find some resolution with one of people on here. I already got bill credits so I am not looking for that.

My wife just wants us to switch to SECTV but I said wait and see.

If your Upstream signal is high, the D2 modem is more tolerant.

Can you please post your signal levels & log entries?

Well they replaced the modem now so I can't pull logs because it is locked down.

I did take a screenshot. What worries me more now is the SNR and Forward Power. They were never that high before.

The transmit power was highest at 57-58 on the dosis 3 modems.

There is no "Max" limit for Downstream SNR; the higher the better. It only shows 40 dB because most modems can't achieve 40. It is possible to go over 40 though.

Your Upstream level at 43.5 dBmV is right where I like it to be.

Your Downstream level at 5 dBmV is good.

All this being said, your signal levels would not change dramatically switching from a D3 modem to a D2 modem. Dramatic changes would only be associated with a modem that has issues & has nothing to do with whether it is D2 or D3.

I do understand that you did try multiple D3 modems with similar bad results. I have no explanation why. Bottom line is that there is no way a D2 modem is going to correct signal issues. There had to be something else going on that was causing your upstream to exceed 55 dBmV.

That is exactly what we kept telling the guy heck it even seemed to get worse in damn & rainy weather. I thought something was wrong with the underground cable or the above ground hook-up.

I am going to get them to come back and put a D3 modem on not the D2.

Weirdly it would be awesome if they actually corrected some issue upstream from you & when you put a D3 modem in service again. you will see similar levels like the D2.

Well they are coming back out tomorrow. Issues again although less than before and somewhat self healing it seems.

However this weekend I peaked at the modem page & RCN's test and the transmit power was at 61! Something is seriously wrong with either my underground line or the node.
