[Connectivity] Usability of other cable jacks in house

I have a tivo and tivo mini.

I have a coax jack in my kitchen and wondered if my tivo mini was portable to this jack seamlessly... Or... did my cable guy only activate the jacks where my TVs are now?

It should be seamless, as jacks do not have to be activated. The only issue is if the cable is actually connected. The good news is it won't hurt to try as no damage will be done. If it doesn't work and you can't find the disconnect, then return it to it's original place.

I wish there was an easy way for you to make sure any splitters behind the drywall were up to spec, fittings are tight, etc.. but thats the chance you take with in wall wiring.

I'm constantly amazed at how the connections on splitters seem to loosen on their own, when there are no obvious vibrations or movements in the area.

me too.. it also amazes me that builders do not do a good job of tightening fittings before they put drywall up.. you would be surprised at all the inside wiring issues that come up because of in wall problems..

Would you recommend using a 4 way tap like the one above? The output would feed the cable modem and MoCa bridge, and the 4 taps would feed the televisions (-15,-16,-17,-18 dB). This way you could avoid any splitters scattered throughout the house (assuming you have 4 TV's). Would there be a problem with pixelating?
