Oh the .174 version is for IE only. Still at .168 for non-IE. |

I hadn't finished rolling out the .168 update and look, there's another one. That's somewhat annoying. My day job is starting to use Ninite Pro to keep up with these [on about 100 machines], so it clued me in before I saw this thread. Thanks very much for posting anyway. I needed to vent. |

It's not for IE 10 on Windows 8.
I think Microsoft is waiting for Adobe to first fix the known issue in .168 on Windows 8 on IE 10/11. |

On this link: » www.adobe.com/products/f ··· on3.htmlThe IE (not IE 10 for Win8) flash version is .168. Shouldn't it be the .174 version? edit: I just checked my version that I downloaded yesterday for my desktop and it was the .174. I wonder if it was pulled for some reason? edit 2: huh...downloaded again from my desktop while lappie was rebooting from adobe update. The file from my desktop was the .174 version. Then went back to lappie and downloaded for a third time. Now the version is correct (.174). Go figure, perhaps adobe reader needed to be updated first. |

Except for IE 10 on Windows 8...there it is .168...but not for long. Adobe is trying to fix a bug introduced in .168 only on IE0 on Windows 8. So, I expect an update soon for it. Sheesh.... |

If you are a ignorant about computers sheeple then, yeah, I suppose you use WU. You abdicate all responsibility for your computer and its welfare. I don't use WU because of all the problems with it. I stopped using it in 2004 when Microsoft lost my entire update history and couldn't get it back even after much effort on their part and waste of time on mine. I then took RESPONSIBILITY. » technet.microsoft.com/en ··· /2755801» support.microsoft.com/kb/2880289 |

Baaa Actually Microsoft pushes out the occasional bad update these days whether you use WU or download them manually. PS: I've been having "fun" setting up Windows NT 3.1 in a VM lately. Back in 1993 you got updates on floppies. The Service Pack 3 package I got consists of 10 floppy images That said I have got TCP/IP (& Netscape 4.08) working in the VM. Reminds me of the "good old days". |

Yeah....and Rescue disks for Antivirus (McAfee/Norton) required about 8-10 floppies every time you wanted to update Rescue. Blah.....(wonder if my floppy drive on my XP Pro machine works? I'm afraid to try and get one stuck in the drive as I would have to entirely disassemble the machine to get it out).
Microsoft has put out some bad updates no matter how you get them but IF you do them individually from Microsoft Download Center, and the use the machine for awhile before installing the next one, you know which one screwed you up. To me, that is an advantage. |

said by Mele20:I'm afraid to try and get one stuck in the drive as I would have to entirely disassemble the machine to get it out). The floppy drive on my ancient Dell tower gave out a few days ago. I pulled it out and disassembled it and it was full of dust and dirt. Cleaned it out but it wouldn't read or write floppies. Found a (exact) replacement on eBay so I should be good |
