VirtualDub Huffyuv Issues

Im trying to extract video from various MKV files I have for editing in Adobe video programs. I need them Lossless. I tried downloading/installing all 32-bit versions of Virtualdub, AVIsynth, and huffyuv. The mkv (opened using the avs file) could be viewed successfully in virtualdub , but Huffyuv would NOT show up in Video>compression list. So, I tried downloading and installing 64-bit versions of each mention program. Now the mkv (again opened using the avs file) will open, but is grey/blank, but huffyuv is listed in video>compression list. This is really really frustrating. Does anyone know the deal? Why is virtualdub hating me?

Im running windows 7 64-bit.

What codec is being used?

MKV, just like avi, is only a container. The codecs used within the container can vary.

Also, while "mkv" is listed in the supported file type of Virtualdub I believe my first comment is at play here. And Virtualdub isn't on the typical list of tools for "mkv" files.
