Bulk metadata/EXIF info addition?

So, I covered a cycling event yesterday. I want to add metadata to all my 1,000 photos. Since the photos won't be edited by me, I don't want to use Lightroom.

What's a good freeware that can add metadata to bulk photos? Maybe something with the ability to choose a folder and have the software add metadata of my choosing.

Combine shell scripting and exiftool. It requires a bit of command-line knowhow, but is easy to pick up. We could even help you if you need some examples.

Exifer »www.friedemann-schmidt.com/software/exifer/ , although an older program, handles bulk EXIF and IPTC editing and comments in jpeg and tiff.
