Will this be the new "Ultra" tier? Because if its another tier from Ultra. Good luck with the sales on that. It will be a very small market since Charter prices are high. We all should be getting speed increases instead and upstream channel bonding.

Ugh...they just don't get it. I can't imagine what dumb upstream speed we'll get. Wouldn't surprise me if it stayed the same as today. They just want the marketing gimmick of being able to say they provide XXX speeds.

This CharterTech dude isn't even real Charter employee. He has said other stuff that turned out to be false.

I'm more interested in upgrades for current tiers, like from 30/4 to 50/10 or something like that. Any news on that?

Guys this isn't a real Charter tech. He's just pulling your chain.

@charter.com

I have seen no communications that would validate this info. Not to say it isn't being worked on but every conversation i been involved in getting 100% all digital nationwide is the focus.
then getting 8 bonded downstream channels nationwide. Once this is achived then DOcSIS 3.1 should be ready for deployment along with grater speeds and video over IP.

Is upstream bonding along with increased upload speeds anywhere in the picture?

Watch it be still 5meg upload with a huge install fee.

You know its bad business when Business packages are starting to get CHEAPER than residential. lol

Re: 300Mbps is Coming

It would be nice to upgrade there other markets till they start working on faster speeds kinda defeat the purpose if only a few people can get the faster speeds.I'm stuck on 30 when i was paying 3 months for 50Mbps then they just took it away nice going charter crap.

I'm happy with $55/mo for 30/4, if charter offered a 50/10 like comcast they'd prob charge about the same and scrap 30/4 :/

I work for charter as a line tech in the Dallas Area,

I have not heard anything about this?

Were doing enough to get HD everywhere in the area so lol ?

A 300Mbps package is really only targeted at the 1%-ers anyway, IMO, so I think most people won't really care if they could get it or not.

As far as the last part about paying for 50Mbps, if you paid more for that but actually only received 30Mbps then you should have asked for an adjustment to your bill, if you didn't.

yeah I will be glad when the upgrade is done I have family in the 450MHz/550MHz areas in North Texas and they don't have HD and all the goodies like Fort Worth or Park Cities. I don't understand why people are begging for faster than 100Mbps when some areas don't have HSI at all and barely get digital cable?

If this happens I can imagine everyone on 2 or 3 tiers:

30/4 becomes either 50/5 or 50/10
100/5 becomes either 150/(Somewhere between 15-30 up) or 300/(Somewhere between 15-50 up)

Since it's taking so long I am guessing they are going to do this via 8 downstream channels instead of Comcasts's fiber. Which will keep costs down for both Charter and us, but it would hit around 280 at max.

the only thing that I have heard that is possibly in the works is 16 channel bonding in Socal where they are going all digital but can't confirm only heard it from a Charter contractor who has a contact out there in Socal. I can't verify this so take it with a grain of salt. not trying to start rumors but that was what I was told when the guy helped install internet for a business that I do work with here in North Texas and he was able to show me that 8 channels are in use in the Fort Worth Texas system right now on the downstream for internet.

What modem can do that? Also that is using a ton of bandwidth. Just 16 channels on the downstream is 96 MHz.

FWIW,
I'm still waiting for those pickles at Charter to give me a cheaper than current 30/4 plan! In other words, don't give a s**t about any news of this kind, even if it does have more upload speed, which is where I'd like more speed.

I'd still be perfectly happy with the 15/3 I used to have for LESS THAN 50 freaking dollars a month.

I've grown up since first getting a computer and realized their is still more to life than just setting in front of this stupid box. Does a computer have a nickname like television, which is called an idiot box?

It't not happening so quit complaining about it. By the way At&T has lower speeds. As high or higher than Charter. You rather pay $51 for 6 Mbps? 3 Mbps is $46 and 1.5 Mbps is $41. Sure cheaper than Charter but worth it? Think not.

there are a few in development now but the guy told me it was mainly for congestion issues and the would probably only offer a 200Mbps tier anyways so they don't have major slow downs. I have seen where TWC in my area only offered up to 50 down 5 up until they added a 5th and 6th downstream channel and 75 down 5 up was introduced in Dallas mainly for their signature home customers as a free upgrade from 50 down 5 up and you can get it but have to ask for it as it is not advertised here mainly it is to combat At&t packages of multiroom DVR, internet, phone. I usually get 34 down 5.6 up provisioned for 35.4 down and 5.91 up so essentially 35/6 even though the advertised is 30/5. Here is the thing the stability between TWC and Charter here in North Texas is noticeable I get full speeds all day but testing at a church that I go to they only about 28Mbps down or so during peak hours and the good thing is the business price for similar services $75 residential on TWC for 30/5 and Charter Business is $65 for 30/4 and both areas where I am comparing have 8 channevldownstream bonding but the church's SMC gateway only bonds 4 down 4 up (max actual 4 down 1 up) and the TWC leased SBG6580 I have at home has 8 down 4 up (actual as upstream bonding activated where I live)

I don't see why everyone is making such a big deal. Even if it does come about, you wouldn't be able to afford it anyway ...
