It has something to do with DSLreports forcing the .ZIP extension. So what I did was zipped the original KMZ file into a ZIP file myself and am uploading it. See if that works. |

 | Justin,
The KML file seems corrupted. It won't open in my Google Earth. |

I thought it was just my system. I tried unzipping and opening yesterday, but to no avail. Is this a file you created or can we get the link to download ourselves? |

No dice... at least on my two machines.
I did some sleuthing and it looks like the XML file that makes up the KML is truncated. It is improperly formatted and that is likely what is fouling us up. |

 | I checked my area and found that Centurylink, Frontier and Windstream are seeking CAF money in areas where I offer 10 Mbps service.
How do I stop them from calling the area unserved? I don't want to see my tax dollars go to these folks to compete with me. |

I didn't use it. I just looked at this online:
I drilled down to the counties I service and see that my coverage blankets the hundred or so folks they are trying to screw the government out of $550 or $775 per supposedly unserved home.
Does the KMZ have different info than this website? |

Obviously, being in Canada, excludes this area, but it also excludes Northern Minnesota just across the border from us.
TBayTel, the regional cellular provider that has a lot of vertical assets (see coverage map) is also a WISP. They received government funding to build out their Canopy WISP but much of it was contingent on there not being any internet available. Small spotty DSL coverage precluded many of their POPs being subsidized.

Most all of the "unserved areas" have had customers of mine active in them for at least the last 2 biannual filing periods. A few of the areas are covered by me, but I don't have any customers there as of yet.
The Frontier areas in particular have been covered by me for more than 2 years and have had 477 data showing them served. |
