[connectivity] No internet access

Hi,

It started about 2 days ago that I have to reboot or power cycle the gateway periodically in order to have internet access. The strange thing is that the DSL and Internet lights are on as though everything is fine when that is not always the case.

Thank you!

Do you have to physically power cycle to modem or does it still respond to remote access? If it stops responding remotely sounds like fw crash. From your post sounds line it is still accessible from PCs on your LAN.

If you can still access the modem take a look at logs/stats and see of you can determine where the connection is failing, PPPoE session or DSL sync.

/tom

#1 What is the brand and model of this DSL modem?

#2 What is your OS and Version? For example Windows XP.

#3 You do or do not have a RJ-45 WAN port router connected to the DSL modem?
b) If so, what is the brand and model of the RJ-45 WAN port router?

Ok.

#1 Go to the LAN IP of the router.

#2 Log-in as need be.

#3 In the router go to Status -> WAN

#4 In the Broadband Status is where the Transceiver Statistics are.

#5 For logs, there are different logs. I am not sure of what logs that the user who is helping needs, but the logs are at Utilities.

a) They are: Web Activity, System and Firewall.

b) Between the types of logs, I would think System Log.
