Re: Starting U-Verse FAQ need ideas, help, questions suggestions said by rolande:Thanks for initiating this whamel . It's a great start. Would be great to include a how-to for ensuring the best possible inside wiring from NID to RG.
If no one else contributes, I can give a couple of suggestions on that |

justin..needs sleepAustralian join:1999-05-28 New York, NY kudos:15 | I have noted that despite the best intentions of the html editor, the faq display degrades numbered lists to boring bullets, and remove the indentation from those lists.
I mean to address that but have to be cautious so that no older FAQs get screwed up. So stick with that annoyance for now, thanks. |

And for my moment of sarcasm before bed:
Best drop (from terminal to NID): If aerial, single pair, untwisted, flat drop, spliced multiple times, and squirrel chewed If buried: red-green-yellow-black aircore quad untwisted drop, unbonded at the ped and at the nid, spliced 3 times underground, and the sheath rotted off as the drop comes out of the ground
From NID to Modem: Old cloth-insulated bridal wire is preferred, but if not available, untwisted 4 conductor quad red-green-yellow-black wire is perfectly acceptable, with multiple pair copper splices using wire nuts
*GIANT SARCASM TAG* -- those would be about the worst possible wiring scenarios I can quickly come up with |

 | 1. rename: What are connection profiles? to: What are connection profiles? Do they include internet, TV, voice?
within describe that HSI (high-speed internet) is capped below profile rate, the difference (the profile reserve) usable only by TV/voice. Total profile BW is prioritized first to voice, then TV, then internet. Hence more simultaneous TV streams eventually starts reducing effective BW left for internet. (A figure would help).
2. There and/or in Features of IPTV heading: Give approx. bit-rates of TV streams: HD 5.7Mbps, SD 2Mbps(?).
3. Personally would like a new section, though getting bit technical: Enumeration of reasons for residential-gateway to "retrain".
Like do they occur in sequences? On power-up (or FW upgrade, or Reset-Connection from webgui, or VRAD port move...), modem will do an initial retrain, and may "naturally" retrain 1-3 times more in the next 14 days, as it adjusts/optimizes (this is a good thing) for the line before reaching long-term stability??
Or should be stable within minutes, so every subsequent retrain is independent, reflecting on new/changed line conditions (usually is a bad thing, triggered by various errors). Nothing will inform the RG that line may now be capable of a faster rate?? |

| Something is still not quite right with my edit setting -- I can open the edit page and make changes, but my changes never save and aren't even viewable in the preview -- it always reverts back to the old, unedited entry
Tried it with both Firefox & Chrome |

| Yup, I get those options, and then I get the "edit" text box that has the existing text -- I type in additions, corrections, etc, and whether I hit "Preview" or "Submit" the text reverts back to what it was originally, as if my additions/changes never happened
And it does the same with both Chrome & Firefox. I have not tried IE or any other browser |

justin..needs sleepAustralian join:1999-05-28 New York, NY kudos:15 | As it stands if I edit a faq entry, add (for example) a single character to the end (no toggling necessary), hit preview, it is there in the preview, then hit save, and it shows after saving. |

justin..needs sleepAustralian join:1999-05-28 New York, NY kudos:15 | put the line [att=n] into the faq answer, and the picture thumbnailed, gets inserted there (not in the editor, in the final display).
I'll check into deletes, since extras don't show up for users it isn't that important. |
