chandom join:2001-05-23 Tallahassee, FL | Suggestions on redoing my lab rack. I'm in the process of redoing my lab rack setup. Due to the adding of a serial console server and trying to fit a switch safely back in it. Attached is what the current setup is, both in real life and diagram. Note on the diagram 2U is equal to one 1U. Also attached is the planned configuration. Going to get rid of the patch panel. I had hoped it would have helped with cable management. On the right side is a lab wireless AP and "server" used for ESXi. Not shown is the current system being used as a serial console. Real life photo.

However, this time is will only be used to supply a link for home network, ESXi server, and the IP phone on my desk.
 Before the wires.

Well, the work for the most part is done.
I still have a mess in the back. But this isn't as bad as it was before. The patch panel is now more useful that is was before. The first 4 ports are connected to my primary network. Two are for the ESXi system (shown). Two are for the IP phone on my desk (SW to Phone, Phone to PC). Finally, one is going to the AP.
Over all it is an improvement than before. For the record, not overly worried about the fiber cables. They were cheap and with it not being production, could care less.
 For the most part, final.

Thanks, joys of having limited space to work with. I would love it if I had the space have some thing larger. |
