Trying to find a 775lga quad core is like ugh

ok, I've been hunting for used quadcores, I know I'm taking a risk doing this, but it's cheaper and most of the time the things are have been burned in so that eliminates me having to run my system (furnace) all night to do that. so anybody have any places they can link me too for quadcores for the 775?

Ebay.

Search for q6600 or q9550 etc.

Q6600 usually cost about $50 to $75 while the q9550 are about $100.

Not sure what risk you are talking about. I've never had any issues purchasing used processors.

I'm typing on a system with an eBay e4600 right now. There's an eBay e4500 in my server. Used CPU's can be a good way to perk up an older system. My server box had a Celeron 356 in it and the difference in speed is awesome.

I'm having a few issues with my e7400 right now. so I figured eh, not ready to build a new one just yet, might as well keep using this system until it dies, so ok, for the suggestions, thanks

In your case I would go with a q6600, get a GOOD but inexpensive cooler to go with it if you don't have one already.

You should be able to easily overclock it to 3ghz.

You won't need a new computer for quite a while...

I've got a oc2 on it and the temps are rock solid, so will be using that if and when I get the quadcore.

Sounds good!

I'm using a q6600 overclocked to 3.3ghz. I did have it at 3.6ghz but it wasn't completely stable. I'm using a xigmatech s1284 or something like that with the optional backing plate for my heat sink. Temps typically run around 110F to 125F.

Here's a Q6600 if you're still looking for one: »[FS] Used CPUs w/HSF. Looks like $35 shipped which is cheaper than what I see in a brief ebay search.
