 | [Cable] Make me feel smart
Spent most of this week researching the differences between TSI and Start, mostly by following these forums. After 2 days of reading whining, crying, know it all's, nastiness and miserable people on one category I would come over here and read intelligent posts from mostly happy people.
I pulled the pin and ordered start yesterday completely thru the webpage without speaking to a human and it took me 3 minutes. Tentatively scheduled for next Friday, unless I get a phone call that it can't be done. Looking forward to a nice speed boost that my current DSL provider is unable to provide thanks to my country living.
So make me look smart of going to a almost completely unheard of company in this neck of the woods by giving me great service and making me a happy guy
Sorry couldn't resist poking a bit of fun. Thanks for all the interesting reading this week, learned a lot just going though the back posts.

My only comments are that several years ago, reading the posts about TekSavvy look like reading the posts about Start today.
I'm not saying that Start will proceed down the same path as TekSavvy, but that there are enough things that can happen outside the control of the ISP to seriously besmirch a good reputation, and the bigger you get the harder they are to manage. |

This is what i am afraid of. |

Growth is never a bad thing. The key though is MANAGING your growth properly. This is what TSI has failed to do.
Start seems to be taking a different approach. What TSI should have learned is that media blitzes can result in much more growth than anticipated. They weren't ready for it process wise. |

**Update**
I do feel smart!
- Registered with START online - received confirmation e-mail - 24 hours received a phone call confirming my configuration - 24 hours after that received an e-mail received saying modem shipped with tracking number - realized that I had given my work phone number, that's not going to work on install day as I'm going to be at home - phoned Start, answered immediately no waiting - told her my story, we both laughed "I'll get that fixed right away" - modem arrived on the day predicted - red truck showed up 2 minutes after advertised time - red truck gone 20 minutes after that - speed test shows solid 35/3
That was an extremely smooth install and setup. Will submit a review after a few days of surfing but gold stars for start thus far!
Well done Rocca and his crew. |
