Re: Fios Mobile App offers some live TV away from home I may be wrong, but so far all of the On Demand that I am looking at is telling me it needs to be activated from an STB first. So what's the point? If I'm on the road and want to watch something, I can't? The article was misleading, unless I'm missing something. |

Is the Free VOD also accessible through the Samsung TV FiOS App?
Free VOD content is in the On Demand area, which you get to by tapping the three bars in the top left corner of the app. We're talking about the IOS and Android app here. The Samsung app has not been updated to my knowledge, and the press release at »newscenter.verizon.com/residenti···live-tv/ makes no mention of the Samsung app. |

I don't know what you're seeing, but that's not the case for me. I'm able to view VOD just fine. I had to authorize the device from within the app, but once I did that, it worked fine. |

What version of Android are you using? It's working fine on all of my Android devices. Try clearing the cache and data and force closing the app, and then re-launch it. That fixed the problem. Thanks! |

The Android version of the app seems unstable so far. At one point I clicked on the TV Listings button and it gave me an error message. So I closed out and went back in and then the app crashed entirely. |

Ok. What about the Samsung App as it stands now? Is there Free VOD content on that? or is it all Flex View? |

The Andriod app is rock solid for me. I would clear daata and cache, then force close the app, an re-launch. If that doesn't help, I woukd uninstall the app and re-install it. |

I read it.
in the iPad app, can I watch from ANY network I subscribe to for free? Like, does me signing in, it knows what services I subscribe to? or do I have to do something beforehand?
All they say is: "Subscribed Network." I do not want to watc something , and then I am billed for ir. Even though I already subscribe to whatever channel.
Am I making sense? lol |

Does Fios Mobile app replace the live streaming that was offered on the My FiOS app for the iPad? |
|
matcarlPremium join:2007-03-09 Franklin Square, NY | The same channels that were offered for live streaming in the prior version are still there. It's just that now some of them can be watched outside your home too, but there is no designation on the app as to which ones those are. They should have some sort of notation so people would know. If someone didn't read the press release, they would have no idea that a few channels can be watched outside the home now. So are people supposed to just try the ones they want on the app and see if they work or not? That's a bit silly. They should have them either separated or have some marking on them. |

The channels available to you are only the ones you are already subscribed to in your existing plan, and you will not be billed for them nor can you subscribe to other channels by just using the app -- again, they simply won't play and go grt a not subscribed notice. Why don't you just try the app? |

When I use the app outside the home it only shows the channels that are available. -- THE ROAD: Romans 3:23, 6:23, 5:8, 10:9 |

How practical is this though? I watched a lot of streaming video one month, and was pretty astounded by the data usage. Haven't done that again! I'm sure it will be immediately on most public Wi-Fi block lists. |
|
matcarlPremium join:2007-03-09 Franklin Square, NY | It's only practical if you are in a wi-fi spot and using it for a short while I imagine. You can't waste data usage on it. Although on-the-go TV watching is becoming the next big thing. I don't know why, but it is. |

I noticed they have some odd channel offerings like WRNN, which is 24/7 infomercials. They also have WRNN-DT2 streaming which is just a simulcast of the regular WRNN main feed (WRNN is a local NYC area channel). I don't know why they would bother streaming these. |

Do any sports blackout rules apply? Like if I'm out of town and want to watch the Giants game on WNYW, would it be blacked out if I travel outside the NY area? |

I don't think they have the ability to do that. They just may not allow you to watch the whole channel out of area, but not certain shows. |

I don't see the two streams of WRNN on my app, but they want as many locals available as possible, they can't control what the locals air, they just want everything out there possible. |

The locals will only work in your house, not on the road. So that answers the blackout question |

Mac973, thanks for the list. I'm hearing Southern California isn't on the horizon, so I wanted to know how many NYC is getting. Clearly it isn't a capacity issue -- they just don't have plans to add the Los Angeles channels. |

Can someone tell me why if you are a current paying subscriber, why wouldn't the networks want you to be able to access their content on a smartphone, tablet, etc?
I logged on today while I was on the road and only 9 channels were available. Verizon says about 69 channels are available for streaming on the FIOS TV website. Why wouldn't all of these channels be available for live streaming via their Android/IOS app? |

The answer is GREED. All of the networks want more money from all the providers for taking their signals on the road. It's why there aren't many available right now and it's why cable bills will continue to rise. As more amd more contracts come up for renewal, this is becoming a part of it, but the networks all want more money for it. |

in NJ, VHO7, they are"
FiOS1
RNN and WRNN ( I do not know if they are SD and HD feeds of the same channel )
El Capo 2 Mundo Fox Galavision Cozi exitosTV Live Well Network (SD and HD) NHK World qubo ION Life SD CBS HD NBC HD FOX HD ABC HD WWOR HD Telemundo Unimas ION HD Univision
Also, They have not Fixed the Channel 129 Investigation Discovery Bug yet. It says it is a SD channel, but I always get the HD feed. They should just change the number and say it's HD.
At least they fixed the Time Bug , though.
And the TV Guide Network is now in HD, so they should put that in HD on this app now.
One more thing. IMO, with this update, they improved their SD feeds. Watching the DiY channel for example seems to be better quality than before this update. At least it seems that way to me. |
