 | [Modem] Can't ping Innoband 8012-r1 from WAN AHHHH! This is driving me crazy. We had a bunch of SpeedStream modems at our locations that we wanted to be able to ping externally. It was a convoluted process to figure out how to enable that, but we finally figured it out. Now they're replacing our modems with the "Innoband 8012-R1" because the speedstreams don't hold up. We thought this would be an improvement, but we can't get these to accept pings now!!!
The setting that I *THOUGHT* would work was straightforward enough. See this image:
Well, we enabled everything on the list (this isn't a picture of OUR settings) and when I used ZenMap to scan the remote IP, I get NOTHING open and it is still pretty much invisible.
I am getting the IP from: The modem's "Home" screen Dyn, which we are using the remote IP checker
So, I know the IP is correct. Also, DYN is correctly updating immediately from our internal router.
So, any ideas on how I get this thing to respond to PINGs? Has anyone done this before?
Thanks!

 | Just looking at the picture, wouldn't there need to be a checkmark in the Wan column checkbox across from Ping in order for ping to work from the Wan? |

Are you actually doing your pings and ZenMap scans from a remote location, or are you doing it from the LAN behind the Innoband 8012-r1 being tested? I am not familiar with that particular DSL gateway box, but many residential/soho grade routers have problems when their WAN is accessed from their LAN interface.
You mention that you also have another router behind the Innoband 8012-r1, so perhaps the method I use for a Motorola NVG-510 that I monitor might help. The NVG-510 also has no obvious way to be pingable from the Internet, so I setup a pingable secondary router's WAN in the NVG-510's software DMZ, and that allowed pinging from the Internet so that this site's line monitoring would work properly. |

 | Yeah, it was from a remote site. I thought about setting it as DMZ, but we need the router to be DHCP and we need to keep the modems as stock as possible, so it is a secondary strategy. Thanks for responding. I'm certain that we can figure this out somehow! |
