External SD card encryption instead of whole device?
so guys, what do u all think?
I read this article here below
»www.dummies.com/how-to/content/e ··· s-4.html
And encrypting the whole device can be problematic and there is no way to decrypt it unlike the option to decrypt the external sd card.
So if i encrypt only the external SD card, will that be enough security?
I only have my contacts on the external SD card or whenever i have important files to save on my phone, it will always be on the external SD card anyways.
From everything I can find on the web, it appears the working contacts the phone uses are on the phone. The encrypted set you can keep on the card are just stored copies. Have you found out something different?
I'm thinking why bother with encryption? Just back them up once in a while to your PC. Keep the phone locked with a PIN or pattern and if lost, remotely wipe it.
i dont know, im not an expert at this, but i assume that encrypting the whole entire phone itself would be more secure. But that causes some problems like you cannot revert back to decrypting. At least when encrypting the SD card, you have the option of decrypting it.
And forget the pattern thing. That is the least secure of them all.
Either a PIN or a password will do.

How do you encrypt a whole phone.
Isn't that like trying to talk into a portable harddrive.
i meant the whole device
