Re: [X1] X2 Really is Live

So the blue button gives us the option to have back the little video preview in the guide

Gerard-
EXCELLENT find! And yes - this now corrects the Apps bug! I can now go in and out of Apps without the picture freezing.

Gate-
Yep. I was curious that they would've taken away the preview screen when looking at the grid. Didn't seem right.

The video preview does hide some of the program info on the bottom right side. But you can easily just click the blue button quickly to hide the preview window so you can read the whole program info. I just hope comcast keeps the option to turn the video preview on and off with the blue button going forward as it's a nice option to have.

No, as was mentioned before, to revert, you just use the "92 92" code again.

I switched to X2 and found some problems but overall like it...

1. When selecting a DVR recording the option "Restart" or "Start Over" doesn't work. I have to rewind the recording to get back to the beginning.

2. I didn't fool around with it too much, so this might be something I just missed while playing around with it. The sorting was off with the DVR recordings. They seemed to be in no particular order. I assume I just simply missed a sort button or something.

I noticed a "bug" last night - if you brought up the guide or menu - and tried to hit Exit - it would not recognize it. You either had to choose a channel from the guide, or another option.

Granted this is a total beta, so i'm not complaining if I find anything. Still love the look and feel.

I tried this code last night too. Much more nicer and faster than the other guide.

There is definitely some bugs but overall it is much smoother than the previous guide...especially on the companion boxes. The companion boxes were pretty much unusable before entering in this trick for the new guide, now their response time is much much better.

Totally agree with you. The HD boxes are much faster.

I wouldn't say that the X1-X2 differences are life-changing but it does seem like CC is putting most of their troubleshooting efforts into X2. That would make sense if they're rolling out that version as an auto-update sometime in the near future to their X1-enabled hardware.

In fact since we already think that CC is using us X1 customers as their BETA testers to fix the remaining bugs, I wouldn't be suprised if they also "leaked" the existence of X2 (Exit Exit 9292) to get some of us to BETA X2 for them as well. If so, it worked! Maybe by the time X2 gets officially rolled out in a few months it'll be pretty clean for those who waited.

Wolf - Exactly! When I had FIOS TV w/ Verizon I was one of their beta testers for almost a year before they rolled out their updated guide. I love doing these kind of things.

According to this article on the FierceCable site today, Comcast may be officially launching X2 during next February's Winter Olympics:

This is really a step backwards from the X1 design.

Rough Night Last Night

Not sure if it was the X2, or others still using X1 style saw it, but it was a rough night last night watching TV.

Lots of bugs and issues watching recorded shows. I'd try to FF and it would end the program. I can tell the "cloud" still is getting bogged down during prime time hours. They really need to address that.

Re: [X2] X2 Really is Live

Found Bugs and Features Missing in X2 Guide!!!

1. After watching a DVR Recording you do not get a "Checkmark" anymore next to the watched program.

2. You can no longer view "Cast and Crew" for TV Shows only movies as this feature.

3. You can no longer view "All upcoming times" for the same TV Show on one screen at a time. The only way now to do this is you have to search though the entire guide hour by hour.

4. "Sometimes" when setting a new recording it's either not added the "Schedule Recodings" at all or a long delay before it appears under "Schedule Recodings". But you do still get the red dot on the program to be recorded in the guide.

5. When a program is currently recording it's added all the way on the bottom of your DVR Recordings list instead of at the top like in X1.

6. When bringing up the "mini guide" on the right side the option for only showing either HD Channels, Premium or Favs is missing.

7. You can no longer delete your DVR Recordings one by one by just clicking the "Green D" button on your remote.

8. When clicking the "Last" button to show your last 9 channels watched you can no longer click the "Green D" button to remove all history.

9. "Sometimes" when clicking the "Last" button and you select a DVR Recording that you already started watching it starts from the beginning instead of continuing where you left off.

10. The "Deleted Folder" is all the way at the bottom of your DVR Recordings list. This is bad in my opinion and I think the "Deleted Folder" instead should be at the top next to where the other selections like "Recent, Recordings, Schedule and Favorites are located.

11.The Red Recording Light on the front of the Box stays on after your recording is done.

12. Still no option to put your favorite shows in alphabetical order.

13. When you see shows in the program guide that you have saved in your favorites list you should see a green check mark or something like that to remind you that the tv show is in your favorite list.

14. Scheduled Recordings can not be deleted.

If I Think of more I will add them to my list and I hope you guys can also add anything you can think of

Has anyone had their box switch back to X1 by itself? This happened to me last night, when I woke up this morning it was back on X1 and now when I try to switch back to X1 using the Exit Exit 9292 method, it doesn't work. I have two satellite boxes that are still running X2 but my main DVR box switched and now can't be switched back to X2.

One of my boxes updated to the newest X1 software and can no longer access the X2 interface. There seems to be a lot of little changes on this build of the X1 software. The other boxes have not updated and are still capable of using the X2 interface. They can't be manually updated either. So basically I'll just enjoy the X2 while it lasts.

Actually I am thinking about switching back to X1 anyway because after now using X2 for a while there are a lot of bugs that are driving me nuts but it is beta so I am not really complaining just yet.
