Select your modem type, enter SAN.
Also the same has been reported for cnn.com: »community.myhughesnet.com/hughes···ng_usage
Another reported leak while running Outlook: »community.myhughesnet.com/hughes···_outlook
Other areas to explore: Tablets, eBook readers, anything Apple right now is updating like crazy.
My Nook HD+ was in a "soft off" state and gobbled a bunch. Also look to see if BITS (Background Intelligent Transfer System) is running under PROCESSES when the drain occurs. Usually associated with Windows Update but other software can use it for background transfers.
Also may be a good time to update your anti virus program, and install the free version of Malwarebytes. Start the computer in Safe Mode and do deep scans with both programs just to be on the safe side. |

Many report having periodic problems entering Hughes sites.
Suggestions: Toggle Web Acceleration to "Off", open a new window and try the link.
Try using a different browser.
Are you running that infernal DLN software from Hughes ? |

 | Check chrome for running background pages/apps as well. That was mt first bandwidth issue. Was able to cut usage in half by eliminating the ones I didn't need. Also try a network monitor to shed some light on things running in the background you may not be aware of. I use networx to help monitor my daily usage. This will give you an idea on what you machine is using (note this must be installed on each device also usage will not match hughes data 100% due to the they compress things). Then I use cucusoft netguard (again must be installed on each device) this little handy program will tell you what has used your bandwidth as well as how much its used it'll also tell you if the program is still running an give you the option to end the task. Networx can be found here: »www.softperfect.com/ Cucusoft netguard found here: »www.cucusoft.com/netguard.aspx Of course there are other alternatives you may perfer heres a good list just to give ya an idea »www.thefreecountry.com/utiliti...
If you watch you tube or other video sites look for a cog wheel to adjust your viewing preference. Most are auto set for best quality or HD, changing this setting will help tremendously. If you use Netflix or Hulu you'll find this setting in your online account details. And last but not least for those Facebook users out there, stay away from the graphic intensive games (especially if your connection seams slow) these will eat it up quite quickly. Also keep in mind that all those little gift requests an such will take away bandwidth as well. |
