Blacklist, Hostages, and the second episode of Sleepy Hollow all on tonight. Plus the season 6 premier of Castle. -- "Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats." - H. L. Mencken
I thought it was pretty good. The action was pretty tame, but the dialogue was top notch, and very funny. I cracked up when Agent Coulson made his entrance. -- "Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats." - H. L. Mencken
It will be worth a shot. It does risk being formulaic, but the humor is a cut above, such as when Skye refers to Grant as "T-1000."
But I hope they don't slather us with the usual network dosage of unrequited sexual/romantic tension disguised as mild hostility, culminating in a kiss (or more) in a cliffhanger season-ending episode I'm looking at you, Skye and Grant .
We also have the requisite quirky, fast-talking, backroom genius hacker a la Criminal Minds and NCIS, ready to deliver a deus ex machina resolution to a case at the end of most episodes, as they did in the premiere, though at least in this case they split the role into two people, and one of them is an attractive woman without spiky hair.
The best moments along with the special effects occur when Coulson is on the screen with his dry humor. -- Leave the gun. Take the cannoli.
You would expect a show to put its best foot forward on the premiere ep. It was flashy and fun but didn't necessarily resonate Marvel IMO and thus felt a little like they were channeling a derivative knockoff like Mutant X.
Marvel is doing fairly well though in movies and TV whereas DC seems to be doing poorly. The last DC TV project (DC character) I recall hearing about was "Wonder Woman" and that got scrapped before it even aired.

Arrow is doing OK, but your point is still completely valid. -- Leave the gun. Take the cannoli.
I still love the DC Animated movies. Unfortunately they don't have the same size audience. -- The world was movin' she was right there with it and she was
I watched the Flashpoint Paradox recently and really liked it. It was very close to the comic books. Good stuff. Batman the Dark Knight returns Part 1 and 2 were great too. DC nation Young Justice was awesome IMO and Teen Titans was really good too.
In general, it was a good pilot, just not great. If Joss runs true to form, things will get better and tighter somewhere between the middle of season one and the middle of season two. I hope it lasts long enough! -- ♬ Dragon of good fortune struggles with the trickster Fox ♬
My take was just so-so. Maybe I expected more on a premiere. I will give it more time to pull things together. I wonder if a long term underlying plot will be Agent Coulson's 'time in tahiti' -- Cry "Havoc!" and let slip the dogs of war
Marvel's foray into live TV. It was okay. The husband got the jokes better than I did. We'll see how long it lasts. Though explaining that Agent Coulter really didn't die on the airship was a nice twist. I had sort of figured that he was either a clone or that he hadn't died at all.
I think you don't know the meaning of "campy". (Go back and watch some of the old Batman TV show episodes from the '60s. That should give you some idea.)

Wonder Woman did aired but it did not get a great response. Many people were pissed at it. -- Illegal aliens have always been a problem in the United States. Ask any Indian. Robert Orben
I thought that it was subpar. I think whedon is boxed in by the the decades of previous marvel comic book history.
It's not like it's a brand new IP in the way his whedonverse shows were. He could do whatever he wanted in all those universes.
This show is just a way to keep marvel movies in the mind of the public at large. They even promoted a special commercial for Thor's new movie.
Since Disney owns all, or part, of marvel, they'll give this show every chance at gaining an audience. They're not going to kill it as quickly as Fox would. -- An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last. - Sir Winston Churchill

Excellent point!
I loved the Thor movie preview (one of the few times I watched a show live and glad for it!) -- ♬ Dragon of good fortune struggles with the trickster Fox ♬
I thought it was ok, not great, just ok. Coulson is a LMD (Life Model Decoy) and doesn't know it. Why did the have to bring up Extremis again. I have a bad feeling that this is going to turn in to"the alien tech of the week that we have to stop" show. -- "America's moral fabric is thinner than a pair of Lululemon yoga pants." -- Stephen Colbert
