subpar episode.

Most pilots are. And Joss Whedon's notoriously so. Too early to judge the show after just one episode.

Serenity Parts 1 & 2 were not subpar by any means. Remember, the Train Job was not the intended pilot.

I think ''pilots'' should be awesome openings to the show..........I know both Blacklist and Ironside was for me.

This show wasn't and I can't see it improving if they're going down the campy dialogue route,,,,,,,sorry but this was not very entertaining.

True, but then they didn't air till near the end of the series... so same effect unfortunately.

Then there was Buffy and Dollhouse as counterpoints. And Angel had the benefit of being a spin-off so not sure that one counts either way.

In any case, for the most part, pilots suck, and most of Whedon's series get off to a slow start because he has one of the nice slow-building story-telling styles -- which doesn't always translate well on TV.

I have a bad feeling that this is going to turn in to"the alien tech of the week that we have to stop" show.

I fear this too.

Agreed. I looked at the DVR it goes from episode 1 the start, to episode 3. What happened to two?

That just how the show will start, look at grimm, it started like that but built up the big story in the background.

subpar episode 2.

They're trying too hard to be witty. Not working.

Sounds like a DVR failure. You can catch up here:

Agents is pretty bad. Whedon's dialog and humor are there, but doesn't fit with the show. I was hoping for a more serious/intense experience. Firefly is still his best show.

I've only seen the pilot so far, but I liked it. Compared to crap like Under the Dome and Revolution (other network shows I gave a chance) it was a friggin' masterpiece. Of course my opinion is subject to change once I get caught up.

So far I"ve watched episode 1 and 2 and it seems okay to me. I have my DVR to record weekly so I don't miss an episode if I forgot that it's on.

I did find it odd that every time someone mentioned Tahiti, Coulson would say "it's a magical place."

I am sure this'll be explained in later episodes.
